Prep Hoops Indiana Daily (1/28) – Five Weekend Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another weekend is in the books and it was a busy one. As always, Prep Hoops Indiana had coverage coming to you from every corner of the state on Friday and Saturday, but even with as diligent as we try to be there are always a few storylines that get missed or don't get the shine they probably deserve. That is why we are going to come back around here on Sunday night to highlight five more standouts from the weekend.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:separator --> <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" /> <!-- /wp:separator --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1172872' first='Jordan' last='Lomax'] poured in 40 points on Saturday night as Brownsburg defeated Maconaquah 82-57. The unsigned senior guard then was offered by Cornell College in Iowa after the game as well. It has been an up-and-down season overall for Brownsburg, but they have the talent to compete for a Sectional 12 championship in a few weeks. If they cut down the nets again, Lomax will likely be a big reason why.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Carmel Greyhounds entered the weekend with an uncharacteristic 6-9 record. A young roster had made this a bit of a rebuilding year for the powerhouse program led by head coach Ryan Osborne. Now, coming out of the weekend, they are 8-9 with a pair of Top 10 victories. On Friday night they defeated Ben Davis 39-36. Then, on Saturday, they knocked off undefeated #2 ranked Fishers 54-46. The Greyhounds have now won four straight games as it begins to look like the "rebuild" might be a little ahead of schedule. Their next game is on Thursday night against undefeated #1 ranked Lawrence North as they look to pull off another upset.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Don't look now, but Concord has rattled off nine consecutive wins and is now sitting at 14-2 on the season. Braeden Messenger scored 20 points to lead the Minutemen on Saturday to their latest win, a 56-50 contest against LaPorte. Messenger is a solid under-the-radar prospect that could be on the list of small college programs needing to beef up their backcourt. Concord will host NorthWood on Thursday night.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lawrence Central has answered a four game losing streak by posting two consecutive impressive wins over Warren Central and Anderson. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1384410' first='Bryson' last='Luter'] scored 21 points in Saturday's 65-62 win over Anderson. The Bears are now 7-8, but clearly very dangerous. They will travel to North Central for a big conference matchup on Thursday night. Don't count this team out.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I attended the Noblesville versus Guerin Catholic game on Saturday afternoon and that one was over about as quickly as it started. It was 23-6 after the first quarter and 42-14 at the half. Then, with a few minutes remaining in the third quarter, the running clock was kicked in as the Millers built a 35-point advantage. They would go on to win 71-41 to move to 15-2 on the season. Senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1275012' first='Hunter' last='Walston'] scored a game-high 17 points while senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1158209' first='Aaron' last='Fine'] finished with 16 points and 5 assists. Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='1561054' first='Baron' last='Walker'] chipped in 11 points. Recent Army commit [player_tooltip player_id='1547883' first='Dylan' last='Murans'] scored 11 points to lead Guerin Catholic in the loss.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
