Another set of players that stood out at the Capitol City Classic and fans should get to know their names.

[player_tooltip player_id='2361345' first='Vontae' last='Lewis'] of St. Paul Central (5'10 sr). One of the key factors in Central defeating Mahtomedi was Lewis giving his team a third scoring option. It was a couple attacks that led to foul shots, it was a couple attacks to score, there was a transition score, and a behind the defense cut and finish and all of them forced the defense to find Lewis. He scored 11 points on six field goal attempts and six foul shots.

Peyton Ransom of Austin (sr). I came away very impressed with the effort that Peyton brought to the floor. Had a rough day shooting but he rebounded seven times, was a very good passer getting to four assists and got to good spots on defense. Scored 12 points on 14 attempts.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560772' first='Micah' last='Schmidt'] of Mahtomedi (6'4 sr). Schmidt is a worker at 6'4 and likely has to do a lot of battling against bigger players. With a dozen rebounds against Central he dominated the glass plus scored ten points for a double-double. Hard working senior.

[player_tooltip player_id='2422066' first='Markes' last='Simpson'] of Rochester Century (6'3 jr). Simpson was the player that I thought embodied what Century's dominating win was all about. He handled the ball and did a great job making the initial read plus continued to keep the ball rotating. Markes attacked for a dozen points. And his defense was in great spots pressuring on ball as well as rotating to spots with the right communication and help spots. Most of the team was good in this are but Simpson was a catalyst.

Tyler Swanson of Mahtomedi (6'0 sr). When Mahtomedi needed a bucket they went to Tyler. Swenson scored 14 points hitting a couple threes, a long jumper, a transition score and an attack. A variety of baskets that gave the Zephyrs a chance to win but they came up just short.

Isaiah Tisdale of Woodbury (6'0 sr). Tisdale is a strong, running back looking player that was constantly coming downhill at Jefferson. Everything the Royals do is a strong team effort with a lot of ball movement and Tisdale was on both ends of that including six baskets at the rim. Tisdale's strength was his greatest asset just ignoring the help contact to score on balance. Biggest part of his play though was the quality team defense and offensive decision making.

James Underwood of Minneapolis South (6'0 sr). Underwood's three point shooting stroke plus a couple mid lane floater attempts (one led to foul shot makes) were big to South getting the ten point win over Austin. The Packer zone was all over [player_tooltip player_id='1434055' first='Poet' last='Davis'] and Underwood was able to find space to get his feet set and make Austin pay for all the attention sent the way of Davis. Underwood had a key 17 points with four threes made.

[player_tooltip player_id='1874928' first='Reid' last='Weckwerth'] of Rochester Century (6'3 sr). Weckwerth has the look of a nice athlete. He's long, runs well, moves well on defense. Scored 11 points mixing a couple jumpers with a three, and gives the Panthers a dangerous double threat when the ball is rotated to him. Wide receiver/bigger Qb type frame to him.
