Another senior guard who had a big year was Deyon. It was a two-man show for the entire season in Mullins, as they only had two players in double-figure points, but both were over 18 a night. Ford was the leader at 19.5, but he also racked up 4.3 assists per game and 3.0 steals per game, dominating on or near the ball game-in, game-out.

Deyon exploded for 33 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals in a close loss for AA Mullins against AAAAA Berkeley. Ford did everything he could to put pressure on the rim: beating his man off the dribble, leaking out in transition, working the offensive glass, and getting to the free-throw line. Ford recently crossed over the 1,000 Career Point mark, and nights like Saturday were reasons why he is one of the top scorers in Mullins history.

really came alive in the second half for Mullins on Wednesday. He finished with 3 3PM, two of them showing his promise as a tough-shot maker. Ford is also capable of creating good shots for others, however, and has a very good handle to create penetration. There was clearly some rust for the Auctioneers, but thanks to the talents of Deyon, I have no doubts they will be one of the teams to beat in 2A this year.

Deyon can finish at the cup with his left hand on a regular basis. He finds ways to score the ball even though he won’t overwhelm you with his athleticism. He prefers to drive to basket but he’s a capable shooter from the perimeter at times.
