The defending Class 2A State champions, Fort Wayne Blackhawk, officially got their season underway as they traveled down the road to face Fort Wayne North, who also got their season underway as well. It was not a great opening night for the reigning 2A champs as they fell to the Legends 71-63. Per reports, it looked as though this game was always near a 10-point gap in favor of Fort Wayne North throughout. [player_tooltip player_id='1293384' first='Javion' last='Davenport'] led Fort Wayne North with 20 point while [player_tooltip player_id='1547392' first='Jaxson' last='Fugate'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1578389' first='Eugene' last='Young Jr'] each added 19. Blackhawk was led by 2025 standout [player_tooltip player_id='1364589' first='Kellen' last='Pickett'] with a game-high 22 points. North will be looking to continue to build this momentum as they travel to Dekalb on Friday while Blackhawk will be looking for a bounce-back win at New Haven on Friday, as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1158192' first='Taray' last='Howell'] join 1,000 point club

Moving down South, we have one of first players this season join the impressive 1,000 point club. Down in Evansville Bosse, senior lead guard [player_tooltip player_id='1158192' first='Taray' last='Howell'] scored his 1,000th career point. This came after he scored a team-high 15 points in the loss vs. Jasper last night. Howell is one of the best pure scorers in the state and can do it at many levels on the floor. He has elite quick speed on the ball that allows him to burst past defenders and push the pace whenever he wants to. He and Bulldogs will look for a bounce-back win over a tough Cathedral team at Sneakers For Santa on Saturday.
