About Javonte
Expert Analysis
Eric Wallace | Prep Hoops Scout
A UCLA commit and First Team All-Region selection, he averaged 11.4 points per game while anchoring the paint with his physical presence. The athletic, strong, hard-playing big man utilizes his length to finish effectively around the rim and alter shots in the lane on the defensive end. His motor and toughness consistently impact the game beyond the stat sheet, particularly as a rim protector and interior finisher. As his offensive skill set continues to expand, his scoring ability is trending upward — and with his tools and work ethic, his best basketball is clearly still ahead of him.

Athletic big man who excels as a rim protector. Floyd is a shot-blocking specialist and high-level rebounder who erases mistakes defensively. Offensively, he’s developing but thrives as a lob target and dunk finisher. A paint presence with long-term upside. High Major programs have offered.

Javonte’s 6’9″ frame is hard to miss, and his stock has been rising consistently over the course of the season. As a sophomore, he’s shown that he can rebound with the best of them. He has a big frame that allows him to play physical and above the rim whenever he gets ready. In two games versus Sandy Creek and Cedar Grove, which featured Division 1 caliber talent, on the opposing squads, Javonte showed the ability to defend on the perimeter some, and definitely made his presence felt as a rim protector, blocking and altering shots throughout the course of those games. On the block, he posts up well, and has the strength that allows him to get in position, to play with his back to the basket when needed. He’s mid-range shot has improved throughout the season, and his begin to look more like a Stretch 4 Forward. Javonte has the tangibles to develop into a high level, highly sought after Division 1 prospect and his offseason development will ultimately decide that how much his stock will rise, in the eyes of coaches.

Javonte Floyd Javonte Floyd 6'9" | C Cedar Grove | 2026 State GA really caught my eye a few weeks back at the Hard in the Paint, showcasing his wide array of talents over two games. Floyd has a great body at 6’8, plays above the rim, and shoots the 15-footer consistently. He’s been one of the biggest sleepers in this class up until now but his stock is on the rise with a great start to the high school season.

Javonte Floyd Javonte Floyd 6'9" | C Cedar Grove | 2026 State GA made quite the first impression on Saturday, easily one of the best underclassmen we saw. Floyd has a solid, athletic build at 6’8 and uses his size well. He was a beast on the inside, working hard on the glass and dunking everything around the rim. In addition to his interior game, Floyd also showed the ability to step out and hit the 15-footer on multiple occasions. Floyd is definitely one to track in Georgia’s 2026 class.
