5A Team Preview: Volcano Vista Hawks

Regardless, they were able to hang onto leads in close games and come through in clutch moments all the way to the championship. This year, they are led by perhaps the best guard-forward duo in the state, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1176305' first='Hudson' last='Brown'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1176300' first='Kenyon' last='Aguino']</strong>, who dominate on both sides of the ball. They have incredibly consistent jump shots that they use from anywhere on the floor, and they're both All-State level defenders who are both contenders for DPOY. On the wings, the Hawks have <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1488493' first='Rian' last='Gonzales'] </strong>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1679993' first='David' last='Gutierrez']</strong>. Gonzales is an absolute sharpshooter who can space the floor, and provide instant offense for the Hawks when needed, and Gutierrez is a two-way guard/forward who finds his primary role on the defensive end as a versatile an-to-man defender. While Volcano does lose several valuable seniors, they gain one of the top freshmen in the state <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2111977' first='David' last='Lunn']</strong>, who is an absolute unit. He's able to create offense for himself at any given moment from anywhere on the floor and uses his athleticism to finish at the rim against anyone. Lunn is also able to bully defenders with his linebacker frame and get to the basket with ease. Volcano adds some key bench depth as well, with shifty guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2085708' first='Luis' last='Gonzalez'],</strong> power forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2216106' first='Evan' last='Accilien'], </strong>and sharpshooting guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2147593' first='Blake' last='Wilson']</strong>, all ready to step up at a moment's notice. The Hawks will still be the favorites to win it all this year and will go for the three-peat as coach <strong>Greg Brown</strong> will head up the new-look Hawks. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
