Prep Hoops had the opportunity to get to watch the Legacy Early College Basketball team practice on Friday. Legacy Early College is located in Greenville, South Carolina, and is a member of the National Interscholastic Basketball Conference. Successful former Lions include Bryce McGowens (Charlotte Hornets), Nic Claxton (Brooklyn Nets), Rayshon Harrison (Grand Canyon University), and Coen Carr (Michigan State University). The Lions add a lot of new faces to the squad this year including [player_tooltip player_id='1050396' first='Terry' last='Copeland'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1089681' first='Cole' last='Hansen'], who are both ranked Top 10 in the Prep Hoops SC 2024 Rankings. However, the pieces seem to be fitting in nicely for Head Coach BJ Jackson and company, who expect to be one of the Top Teams in the NIBC again this season. Here are my takeaways from their open practice on November 3rd:

[player_tooltip player_id='1050396' first='Terry' last='Copeland'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1586778' first='Gabe' last='Grant'] can be a dominant Big Man Combo

[player_tooltip player_id='1089681' first='Cole' last='Hansen'] will be one of the best shooters in the NIBC

[player_tooltip player_id='1270430' first='Travelle' last='Bryson'], [player_tooltip player_id='1502824' first='Kyelin' last='King'] will also add much-needed floor spacing

The Lions don't have a large squad, but they do have a lot of talent so expect everyone to have an important role

I like in-state transfer [player_tooltip player_id='1220048' first='JJ' last='Rembert']'s fit with Legacy as a true Point Guard

Expect [player_tooltip player_id='1055704' first='Adrian' last='Shackleton'] to also get a lot of ball-handling opportunities

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2844134' first='Zion' last='McGee'] has a bright future

During practice, the Lions focused on Transition Offense and Pick-And-Roll Defense

Legacy will open their season at home on Monday, November 6th vs Believe Prep followed by a big matchup at Christ School on Friday, November 10th.
