The high school season is coming up in no time and while we are still a few months away, we are looking ahead to those upcoming meaningful months. Today, we are releasing our 4A Preseason Team Rankings.
2017-18 4A Preseason Team Rankings:
1. New Albany
2. Ben Davis
3. Fort Wayne North
4. Cathedral
5. South Bend Riley
6. Lawrence North
7. Carmel
8. Hamilton Southeastern
9. Warren Central
10. Indianapolis Pike
Breakdown: Last year, Ben Davis made a huge run at the right time and was able to pull in a State Championship with some close victories. This season, they should be able to compete again but New Albany and Fort Wayne North will both be tough to take down. New Albany will start out #1 but need their surrounding contributors to show their worth early in the season because they will be tested. Cathedral looks the part of a State Title contender with Armaan Franklin, James Franklin, and Jarron Coleman leading the way. South Bend Riley returns nearly everyone, as does Lawrence North. Carmel has a good core coming back but they have a new coach at the helm. HSE has tons of talent but it will be more like it will be with Lawrence North, can they put it all together? Warren Central lost a ton of talent this offseason but they have some younger players that should provide good support, just a matter of seeing what the product looks like. Pike could be a team that surprised people but really shouldn’t. They are always competitive and have the guard depth this year to be more like the teams of old.
