Top Forwards: The Louisiana Class of 2024

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The class of 2024 in Louisiana has some of the top forwards/wings in the southern part of the United States. The top five players in this class are sure fire contributors on the Division I level when they make the move next season. In this Prep Hoops Louisiana exclusive about the 2024 rankings, we will look at the five forwards who sit atop of the rankings list.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1105554' first='Kameron' last='Williams'] (Lafayette Christian / 6'8")</strong> - Kam might not have been blessed with the springs of his older brother Greg (LCA/St. John's/ULL); however, he has a feathery touch from the perimeter and is an aggressive rebounder. He has averaged a double-double each year in high school leading LCA to Marsh Madness on several occasions. Williams can put up big numbers with the versatility of his game and he has suitors from a number of Division I institutions. His spot up game and rebounding prowess should transfer well to the next level. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1159181' first='Trey'Dez' last='Green'] (Zachary / 6'8")</strong> - The #1 tight end in the state is also the best power forward on the hardwood. Green is a highly-skilled forward who has developed from being a primary post player and rim runner into an all-around threat. He now has an improved face up game where he can go left or right. His touch from the perimeter is better as well especially from distance. Green excels at taking punishment to finish baskets or to shoot free throws. His two sport ability will make him a valuable asset on the hardwood and gridiron at Zachary and next year at LSU. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1105540' first='Todd' last='Jones'] (Newman / 6'8")</strong> - [player_tooltip player_id='1105540' first='Todd' last='Jones'] is skilled enough that he may move out on the wing on the next level. Presently, he is the anchor to a Greenie team that protects the rim and loves to play in transition. Jones can score over either shoulder, create terror on the offensive boards, and finish in transition. His ability to block shots on one end and beat his defender to the offensive end is one of his best traits. His play has helped Newman win back-to-back titles. They will certainly have a leg up going for a three-peat with Jones on the roster. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1105536' first='Jeremiah' last='Evans'] (Southwood [ 6'10")</strong> - Evans has the most complete skill set of the top five forwards in this class. He has shown the ability to shoot the ball consistently from three while being a presence on the boards and defending the paint. Evans has also displayed the skill to rebound the defensive board, handle the ball in transition, and finish on the other end. He can score in the paint with hooks and short jumpers or drop step and dunk. He is as polished as they get on the high school level and has earned the attention he garners. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1480391' first='Allen' last='Graves'] (Ponchatoula / 6'8")</strong> - [player_tooltip player_id='1480391' first='Allen' last='Graves'] rounds out the top five of this pristine list. He was a main cog in helping Ponchatoula become state champions and will be as they try to defend their title this season. Graves is a stretch forward in that he makes the corner three at a high rate. From there, he has also learned to attack defenses facing up from the corner or the baseline. Graves also takes on anyone in the paint trying to outrebound him. Graves is skilled and tough. That is a dangerous combo at the forward position. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Louisiana has a number of good forwards listed in the 2024 rankings. The first five though have been some of the best in their districts or on their respective circuits.
