Mauro has been a major impact player and leader for NYC Honor this offseason. He’s a nightmare to cover, deadly in the mid range, he’s elusive, really quick and a very underrated athlete. His shooting was consistent all summer, he’s good from three, makes others around him better and is tough as nails. The recruitment should pick up this fall as more Division 1 programs get their eyes on him. The value, skillset, mindset are all there plus he just wants to win.

A reliable decision maker, he consistently pressures the paint, displays a polished and soft touch in the lane and beyond, and remains an unselfish creator by reading help defenders and finding teammates on his drives. Mauro settled into a nice rhythm offensively and showed just how impactful his scoring can be— navigating ball screens with pace to get in the lane for different footed, soft touch runners and floaters while also showcasing a little bit of his craftiness off the bounce to attack slower footed defenders in isolation to finish with dexterity from different angles around the basket. All while controlling the pace and tempo in transition as a primary ball handler and taking advantage of easy scoring chances at the rim before the defense was able to get set.

Mauro was one of the most electric prospects I saw all weekend. He is a captivating player with the ball in his hands and has a way of keeping everyone on the edge of their seat every possession. Whether it’s a tough shot, a highlight-reel pass, or a crafty finish around the basket, Mauro always seems to be a moment away from making something special happen. His game is loud in the best way possible, as he plays with tremendous passion, confidence, and energy. Beyond the flashy plays, his feel for the game is what truly stands out. Mauro processes the action at an elite level, making quick decisions and consistently reading situations before they develop. He also embraces a leadership role, constantly encouraging teammates and setting the tone with his competitiveness and enthusiasm. With his playmaking ability, basketball IQ, and infectious energy, Mauro is a prospect that mid-major programs should make a priority to evaluate during the July live period.

Proving to be a natural offensive fit and productive at either guard position, Mauro once again displayed efficient perimeter spot up shooting while also attacking the lane effectively, finishing with soft touch floaters and crafty layups from a variety of angles. He also flashed impressive ball handling ability and court vision, consistently creating drive and kick opportunities for teammates and connecting with open bigs inside.

Mauro is an electric point guard who has his fingerprints all over the game for his team. He showed some flashes as a scorer. Mauro plays like his hair is on fire and sees plays into existence from miles away. He also showed that he can make shots from a slew of different spots on the floor.

Off to one of the more hotter starts this spring here in the state of New Jersey, it’ll be interesting to see where Mauro’s recruitment goes, particularly with the level of consistency he’s played at so far.

All while also showing some pretty solid flashes of his strong ball handling and court vision to create drive and kick opportunities for his teammates and find open bigs down low.

Expected to part of an aggressive and fiery NYC Honor attack, Anthony Mauro showcased what his scoring attack can look like once he finds a rhythm. The southpaw shot maker showcased the versatility in which he can knock down outside shots, creating separation off the bounce and as a spot up shooter. All while also having the court vision and passing feel to make plays for torches and find guys open. 

Mauro does a good job existing in multi-guard lineups he shows the ability to play on or off the basketball. I like how the southpaw can change gears with ease and doesn’t let the game get too fast for him. He has no problem converting from deep and if he gets into a groove look out. Mauro is able to take what the defense gives him on a frequent basis and has a nice in-between game. Mauro should see more recruitment at the division one level over the next several months.

Maurp is a lethal lefty who can score efficiently from all three levels. He has a smooth shooting stroke from deep and confidence to rise up off the dribble. His ability to create separation and finish through traffic makes him a constant offensive threat. Maurp’s scoring versatility forces defenses to stay honest, opening up opportunities for both himself and his teammates.
