Recruiting Report: Kobe Colston (2017)

<h2>October 2, 2015</h2><p>After an impressive sophomore season at Blake, and an offseason flourishing on the grassroots circuit, <strong>Kobe Colston </strong>is quickly becoming a name to know in Maryland’s 2017 class.</p> <p>The 5-foot-11 point guard has started hearing from college programs, and though his recruitment is still in its infancy, the talented point guard has seen mail come in from four Division I programs.</p> <p>“Right now I have interest from Rider, William & Mary, Colgate, and St. Joseph’s,” said Colston. “It’s just mail right now, and recently I’ve gotten the most mail from Rider, I’d say they’ve sent me the most.”</p> <p>“I know have to keep playing hard so schools can keep noticing me and give me an offer.”</p> <p>This spring and summer Colston played with Maryland Attack, and says working on his defense was a priority.</p> <p>“I used to not have a lot of defensive intensity, and then towards the end of the AAU season I really picked it up and I started to get noticed for my defense,” he said.</p> <p>“My strengths are attacking the basket off the dribble, I can extend my range out to the 3-point line and knock down open shots. And then when it matters most that’s when I play the hardest defense.”</p> <p>Last season as sophomore Colston was outstanding, averaging 13 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals per game. This season as a junior he’ll take on more of a leadership role with the Bengals.</p> <p>“I’ll have a lot more shots to take this season because I’ll be a leader on the team. So I’m going to take that role and run with it, and make sure I keep my team poised,” said Colston. “I’d definitely like to get to the state tournament and just improve on my stats from last year.”</p>
