Player Spotlight: Juan Guerrero Hernandez Introducing Juan Guerrero Hernandez! Juan Guerrero Hernandez is a special talent coming out of Grafton, Wisconsin. His first year of high school has shown great promise for what is to come for 2025 prospects. The 6'3 guard has shown big-time leadership in a talented North Shore Conference, a competitive conference of schools surrounding Milwaukee. Juan has a mature disposition out on the court and a growing understanding of the game. His confidence in himself the moment he stepped on the floor for a varsity screamed confidence. His stats of 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists vs a powerhouse Kaukauna in his very first Varsity game was just a glimpse of what was to come for Juan. He became a consistent focal point in Grafton's offense. He finished out his freshman year; second on his team in scoring, leading the team in assists and leading the team in the rebounding category. In his first playoff game, he tallied (15pts, 4rebs, 3ast) vs Milwaukee Madison. Juan Guerrero Hernandez has a next-level frame and a next-level game. He wields the tools to be a major playmaker. He attacks angles and finds teammates effectively. A high ceiling rebounder with room to grow through his high school years. He's a willing rebounder that can take it from coast to coast given the opportunity. He has a great sense and rhythm for the game. He moves off the ball with a high-level presence which gets him looks in the flow of the offense. Has a great chance to make noise on the big stage for years to come by playing for Chapman Basketball Academy. His stock will rise along with the work. I caught up with Juan to get a more in-depth understanding of the prospect's mentality, what goes on during the off-season and what to expect of him moving forward. He was happy to share with us his perspective on his game and his future in basketball. Question: What did you learn from freshman year? Answer: In my freshman year I learned that time doesn't wait on anyone. I learned that even though I'm one of the best players in the state, I still have a lot more work to put in. Q: What are you excited about going into your sophomore year? A: The main thing that I'm most excited about this year is building more chemistry with my teammates and going to state but the thing I want most is taking that number spot [on the Prep Hoops rankings]. Q: What does your off-season consist of? A: My off-season consists of work work work, and spending time with my family. My downtime is made up of a little bit of Netflix (lol) and shopping. I love shopping. Q: Who inspired you to start playing basketball? A: I would say my dad inspired me to play basketball, as I used to always go to the gym and watch him play. Q: Who is a player that you study and learn from? A: I love watching a list of players in my era as well as players from my Dads era. Some of the players that I study the most are Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. Q: Who's your favorite player, and why? A: My favorite player is hard to decide. It's either Kyrie Irving or Kevin Durant, because of their ability to score. In today's basketball Kyrie and Kevin do it on all levels and make it look easy. I would say my game shows similarities to the players I watch most. https://twitter.com/FreshCoastHoops/status/1464984542242955265?s=20&t=NwaF4UBWPwHtYRr1vVOgHw
