Player Spotlight: 2028 Camden Cooper

Next up in our "Player Spotlight" series is a profile on Camden Cooper. I first saw the 2028 prospect at the "<strong>Talent Over Hype All American Camp"</strong> earlier in August where Cooper was a standout. Cooper can score the ball at will and has advanced size for a 6th grader standing at 5'9 with tremendous length. Cooper attends <strong>St. John's Country Day School</strong> in Jacksonville where he has already made the varsity team as a 6th grader. <strong>Prep Hoops Next</strong> was able to catch up with his high school coach, Ian Gibson to talk more about Coopers game and the decision to play varsity while in the 6th grade... <span style="font-weight: 400;">“I think Camden has such a bright future ahead of him. He is a hungry and humble kid which is going to help a lot moving forward", Gibson said.</span> Playing on a varsity team when you are in the 6th grade is an extremely uncommon thing but Gibson is planning on depending on Cooper this upcoming season. <span style="font-weight: 400;">“Everyone is going to have a role on this team. We are trying to build this program up to the top and Camden is going to play a big part in that. Camden needs to keep on doing everything he needs to do in the classroom, on the court and in the weight room.”</span> The goal that Gibson has for Cooper in the future is to be a really good all around player where Cooper can do a lot of things at a high level on the basketball court. <span style="font-weight: 400;">“I am not that big on numbers when it comes to being what position you are, I am more big on being an all around good basketball player and I think he has a lot of that right now. He has really good size for a 12 year old. He is a lefty that can shoot it really well, he can handle, he can pass, he can defend and he can rebound. I think he is going to be a really good all around player and since he has the mindset of getting better everyday, it will only help him.”</span> Gibson and Cooper are about to spend a lot of years together and Gibson is super excited about the growth he will be able to watch first hand that Cooper goes through. <span style="font-weight: 400;">“Just to be able to have him in our program for seven years and being able to see him grow into a young man and grow into his body and his overall game. Being able to watch him grow into an 18 year old and watch all of the milestones he is going to be able to reach is going to be really special.”</span> Stay tuned for more from Prep Hoops Next!
