Among the nearly forty teams and four hundred players in attendance, these guards from the Class of 2025 placed their stamp on the event in the eighth-grade division…
Parker Brodina | Devils Lake, ND | Class of 2025
The ECI Basketball (ND) program was once again well-represented on the Prep Hoops Next circuit at the Midwest Region Final, and true to form, Brodina played his way to standout status while suiting up for one of the organization’s trio of eighth-grade teams. Standing 6-foot-1, Brodina brings quality size to the perimeter for his club, and has the confidence and skill set necessary to provide valuable versatility on both ends of the floor. Brodina reached double figures in the scoring column in his second game, and drew difficult defensive assignments all weekend, having matched up against three of the players on this list during the event.
Tally Hurst | Milwaukee, WI | Class of 2025
The D1 Wisconsin (WI) guard provided a variety of valuable contributions for his squad throughout the Prep Hoops Next Midwest Region Final. After a poor performance resulting in a disheartening opening-round loss to eventual champion, ECI (ND) Meissner, Hurst led his team to a 46-45 victory in one of the most exciting contests of the weekend by scoring a game-high 24 points versus the Northstar Titans (MN). The 6-foot-1 guard did an excellent job of applying pressure to opposing defenses for the duration of the event, consistently attacking the lane and drawing fouls in the halfcourt, while also forcing tempo in transition.
River Peters | Emporia, KS | Class of 2025
Peters was one of the most proficient scorers at the Prep Hoops Next Midwest Region Final and logged quite an impressive season on the circuit with the Kansas Gauchos (KS). The 6-foot-2 perimeter prospect scored in double-digits in three of his four games during the tournament and finished the weekend averaging more than 16 points per contest. The Kansas product displayed excellent offensive awareness by capitalizing on his match-ups and proved to be both a capable perimeter shooter as well as a talented finisher around the rim. Peters’ constant energy and willingness to compete at both ends of the court are deserving of high praise.
Korde Roseman | Baxter, MN | Class of 2025
A bright spot for the Midwest Kings (MN) during the Prep Hoops Next Midwest Region Final, Roseman scored in double figures in three of his team’s four games, helping to steady the backcourt with his all-around play. Nearing the six-foot mark, Roseman is versatile enough to fill either guard position for his club at this juncture, but looked most comfortable in a playmaking role with the ball in his hands. A quick glance at the box score reveals a 59-38 victory in his team’s final game against Eagle’s Nest (NE) with Roseman credited for scoring 14 points, and despite it not being his highest-scoring game, it was certainly his most complete performance.
Tayvin Zephier-Murphy | Omaha, NE | Class of 2025
Zephier-Murphy was easily among the more intriguing perimeter players in attendance at the Prep Hoops Next Midwest Region Final. The Omaha Sports Academy (NE) Crusaders guard is the owner of a strong and athletic frame, and although this eighth-grade backcourt prospect already stands 6-foot-2, his reach and wingspan are noticeably longer. Zephier-Murphy’s production levels vary at the moment but his collection of dominant moments during the event are likely positive indicators of what the future has in store and solidified his inclusion among the tournament’s most promising performers.
