The following standouts added quite a bit of firepower to the tournament and made for an exciting weekend in Orange County…
Chance Holley | Inglewood, CA | Class of 2026
One of several backcourt standouts for The Truth (CA), Holley garnered attention with his strong two-way play throughout the Prep Hoops Next West Coast Kick-off. An active defender, Holley was in constant motion, and his effort in limiting transition opportunities for opponents was commendable. However, there is more substance to the Southern California native’s game than hustle and effort. He proved to be a reliable catch-and-shoot threat but also has the length and athleticism to finish in the lane at this stage. Although he may not command the touches that others on his team do, Holley is very efficient, and his production should not be overlooked.
Jaizahn Lewis | Temecula, CA | Class of 2026
Lewis was one of the top backcourt scorers in the seventh-grade division at the West Coast Kick-off and the Gamepoint Inland (CA) guard put his full offensive arsenal on display while helping to lead his team to a semifinal appearance at the event. The Class of 2026 prospect is a confident ball-handler, flaunted creativity off the bounce, touch as a finisher in the lane, as well as range and reliability with his jumper. He was also a clutch free-throw shooter down the stretch for his club. Additionally, Lewis flashed vision and passing touch with the ball in his hands, despite his scorer’s mentality.
Brandon Mason, Jr. | Albuquerque, NM | Class of 2026
Mason is the “glue” that makes the J.B. White Elite (NM) seventh-grade roster stick together. He’s a fairly vocal leader when considering his age and grade, and while it appears that the 5-foot-6 guard may be a late-bloomer, his physical upside is noteworthy, particularly when considering his pedigree. As his maturation continues, his talents as a ball-handler and facilitator will become more obvious, but Mason still managed several impressive moments during the West Coast Kick-off. He’s a capable perimeter shooter when in rhythm and is a dependable decision-maker with the ball in his hands.
Joshua “Mufasa” Osazuwa | Elk Grove, CA | Class of 2026
Osazuwa was easily among the more underrated performers to take the floor at the West Coast Kick-off. A strong and quick perimeter prospect, he provided contributions in nearly every statistical category during his team’s run to the seventh-grade championship. Due to his size, strength, and athleticism, the Y.B.A. Elite (CA) guard is a versatile defender at this level, and looked comfortable playing off the ball or taking charge when the ball was placed in his hands. Osazuwa was especially impressive in his ability to attack the lane with either hand and absorb contact in the paint while converting difficult finishes at the basket.
Jeremiah Profit | Temecula, CA | Class of 2026
The six-foot seventh-grader was perhaps the most versatile prospect from the Class of 2026 at the West Coast Kick-off. His game is structured in the mold of a point-forward, and Profit regularly established the halfcourt offense for his Gamepoint Inland Empire (CA) club, yet also collected boards and consistently initiated transition opportunities for himself and teammates. Ironically, the lengthy forward’s productivity was based more on his skill level as opposed to his size advantage. Profit’s combination of potential and production is extremely intriguing and he is certainly a player that will continue to be monitored moving forward.
