<p><strong>Joe Wieskamp </strong>(6’4 SG, Muscatine)</p> <p>Wieskamp can&#39;t move up much higher on rankings, but off the heels of a remarkable freshman endeavor with Muscatine, Wieskamp, our second-ranked in 2018 has the look of a bona fide Division I prospect.. He’s a rangy, sharpshooter with great height, and has a list of early suitors that includes Nebraska, Northern Iowa, Drake, Virginia, Iowa State and Stanford</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>AJ Green</strong> (5’10 PG, Cedar Falls)</p> <p>The son of Northern Iowa assistant coach Kyle Green, AJ is quickly becoming a household name in the homes of Iowa high school hoops fans. His silky handles and pure jumper dazzled us at our Prime Time Prospects Combine last September, and that flowed right in to his impressive freshman campaign.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Luke Vaske</strong> (5’10 PG, Norwalk)</p> <p>This Iowa Barnstormer product has been one our favorites since we first saw him during the Norwalk Team Camp last July. We then saw him a couple times during the regular season and by January he was in complete control of the Norwalk offense, specializing as a game-manager and facilitator. Next season he will be the man for the Warriors and we think he’ll prove to be an impressive scorer as well.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Jason Taylor </strong>(6’11 C, Rock Valley)</p> <p>He’s among the tallest hoopers in Iowa at 6-foot-11, and that alone puts him on the radar as a top-prospect candidate. Like you’d expect, he blew away the other freshman competition in blocked shots while averaging 2.5 per game, those swat numbers could be huge over the next few years as he continues to develop as a defensive presence.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Brady Sartorius</strong> (5’10 PG, Mt. Pleasant)</p> <p>The athletic and well-built point guard was part of a litany of freshman who started for a 7-15 Mt. Pleasant squad this season. Sartorius was the clear catalyst for the Panthers while averaging 13 points (44 3FG%), 2 assists, 2.3 steals and 2.5 rebounds per game.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Elijah Hazekamp</strong> (6’4 F, Bishop Heelan)</p> <p>Hazekamp nearly averaged a double-double during his freshman campaign (10.5 ppg, 8.5 rpg), and should be a serial double-double threat for years to come at Bishop Heelan.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Trey LaBeaux</strong> (6’2 F, Cedar Falls)</p> <p>The second Cedar Falls prospect to land on this list means there’s plenty to be excited about for Tiger fans. LeBeaux compliments Green’s finesse with some punch and he averaged a team best 2.2 offensive rebounds per game to go along with his 9.6 points per contest.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Ben Lyon</strong> (6’2 PG, Ankeny Christian Academy)</p> <p>Lyon is a lesser-known but budding freshman at the 2A level. The Kingdom Hoops product got plenty of run with the 17-5 Eagles, while averaging 6.2 points 1.6 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game. He’s a rangy 6-foot-2 points guard, with a lot of room to grow, physically and skills-wise.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Malcolm Clayton</strong> (5’10 PG, Fort Dodge)</p> <p>Anytime a freshman is getting significant run at the 4A level it’s time to take notice. Clayton was magnificent off the bench for the Dodgers this season, and was starting by season’s end. He averaged 6.1 points on 48 percent shooting, 2.8 assists and 2.3 rebounds for a Fort Dodge team that could be sneaky good next season.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Derick Diggins </strong>(6’ Cedar Rapids Kennedy)</p> <p>Another 4A freshman who got significant run, Diggins’ accomplishment is even more impressive because his playing time came on a state qualifier loaded with talented guards. He mostly spent his freshman campaign lighting up opponents from beyond the arc -- connecting on 55 percent of his 3-point attempts.</p>
