Tamell Pearson Cuts List to 6

The state’s top 2018 power forward Morgan Park’s Tamell Pearson has cut his list to six schools he tells PrepHoopsIllinois.com.  Those schools are Cleveland State, Missouri State, Murray State, Oklahoma State, UAB, and Washington State. Pearson walked us through each of the six programs that remain in the running for his commitment. Cleveland State “They promised me a lot of opportunity to expand my game at the next level.  Being able to come in and contribute my freshman year.” Missouri State “They told me I can be a great player in their system.  They have been recruiting me very hard from the very beginning.” Murray State “They came in during the middle of the process and told me that I would be great in their system.” Oklahoma State “They have been in there from the very start.  They have been recruiting me for a long time.  I really love the school and the atmosphere.” UAB “They are a great school.  They are recruiting me the hardest out of everyone.  I love the coach.  They call me every day and check up on me.  I will be able to contribute there my freshman year.” Washington State “The coach comes from Chicago and knows a lot about me.  They came in late during Vegas.  I really love the research I did about their school.” Pearson told us about what he will be looking for in these schools to separate them from each other. “Just the people.  Each one of these schools I am going to be moving away from home.  No matter where I go I am going to be moving a decent amount of way from home.  I want to know how people are.  Get to know the coaches and players that will be returning with my class.  Where I can contribute the most at a school my freshman year.” The Morgan Park and Mac Irvin Fire standout does not have a timetable for making a decision at this stage. What does Pearson bring to the table as a prospect?  The 6’8” 2018 power forward from Morgan Park was mostly known as a rebounder that can occasionally contribute an easy bucket or two after his junior season.  He showed much more than that with his play in this spring and was a standout at the Nike Peach Jam in July.  Pearson was aggressive when he touched the ball on the block.  Quick baseline drives and a nice right handed hook shot.  Most aggressive we have seen him throughout his career offensively was during the last four months.  Snatched rebounds at a solid clip.  He is currently the top power forward in the state and will remain so when the rankings are updated in early September.
