(Kokomo H.S. 2024) is the best prospect to come through the state of Indiana. In fact, he very well might be the best since Greg Oden came through nearly two decades ago. The 6’9″ five-star center is a plug-and-play prospect who will immediately provide two-way ability at the rim.
On Saturday evening at the annual Under Armour Elite 24 Camp game, Bidunga announced his commitment to Kansas. He chose the Jayhawks over a group of finalists including Auburn, Duke, and Michigan. Admittedly, Kansas absolutely EARNED this recruiting win. Coach Bill Self was at nearly every single one of Bidunga’s live period games. They put in the work, built the relationship from early on, and won what is, in my opinion, the biggest prize in the 2024 recruiting cycle.
Bidunga averaged 20.2 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks per game as a junior at Kokomo while shooting an incredible 81% from the field. In terms of an evaluation, this is what we have to say about the five-star center at Prep Hoops Indiana…
Bidunga is the best prospect in the state of Indiana regardless of class. Aside from a short list of names, that could be extended to the country as well. Not afraid for the game to be physical. Ducks-in hard. Will drop step and dunk it. Elite rim protector and rebounds outside of his area. Rim runs hard in transition. Non-stop motor is really impressive. Left hand, right shoulder in the post, but he mostly dunks everything. Improving from the free throw line and handling the ball. Still not much right hand. Fluid athlete. Best in-state prospect since Greg Oden. There is such a high floor for Bidunga that you can feel good about throwing him in there from day one. @BRamseyKSR
On a personal level, I’ve never enjoyed watching a prospect as much as I did this Kokomo High School product. I can remember watching his very first high school game against Western High School prior to Thanksgiving in 2021. Immediately following the game I texted every Division I coach in my phone letting them know they need to offer this Indiana prospect IMMEDIATELY. Then, he proved to be above much of my contact list. Quickly as a sophomore Bidunga just kept exceeding expectations and rising the national ranks. Originally thought to potentially follow some Indiana Elite and ties to the Adams family to Cincinnati, Bidunga outgrew that projection as he was highly sought after by every school in the country.
Bidunga took his official visit to Kansas in May of 2023 to solidify his relationship with Coach Self and the Kansas program. After a June 2023 offer and official visit to Duke there was plenty of smoke that the Blue Devils had wrapped things up. However, after cancelling a final visit to Indiana, Bidunga ultimately decided to go with the program that was there from near the beginning and built the best relationship. Auburn was the odds on favorite at the end, but his overall quiet recruitment ended in a surprise commitment to the Jayhawks.
Congratulations to the Kansas Jayhawks on landing a generational talent out of the state of Indiana in Kokomo’s
