The limited scrimmages on Wednesday and Thursday night were filled with high level head-to-head matchups. Here are our takeaways on the prospects we saw from the middle south region of the U.S.
Nate Ament Nate Ament 6'8" | SF Highland | 2025 State #12 Nation VA , 2025, Colgan (VA)/Team Loaded
Ament is a highly-skilled wing/forward who at 6-feet-8 has the offensive tools to impact the game both inside and out. Ament is a fluid shooter off the catch who has the ball skills to break down defenders off the bounce and get to the rim. The calling card for him at the next level is his versatility at both ends of the floor.
Nicolas Codie Nicolas Codie 6'9" | PF Newman Smith | 2024 State #42 Nation TX , 2024, Newman Smith (TX)/ Southern Assault
Codie is a bruiser of a big man. The 6-foot-9 center sets a big and physical screen, rolls hard to the front of the rim and looks to dunk everything he catches in the painted area. Codie seeks out contact and uses that to create advantages on his low block touches. Codie’s combination of length, agility and vertical athleticism makes him a high level rim protector at the high school level.
Terrion Burgess Terrion Burgess 6'9" | SF Benton | 2025 State #42 Nation AR , 2025, Benton (AR)/Arkansas Hawks
I really like Burgess’ long-term upside. At 6-feet-9, the lefty is a smooth-shooting wing/forward with deep and consistent range on his three-point shot. The rising junior also has the ball handling ability and fluidity off the dribble to create mismatches when bigger defenders get matched onto him. He’s best as a pick and pop three-point shooting threat who can attack a close-out and make the right read.
Toni Bryant Toni Bryant 6'9" | PF North Tampa Christian | 2026 State FL , 2026, North Tampa Christian (FL)/Austin Rivers SE Elite
Bryant can do a little bit of everything at 6-feet-9. The rising sophomore is a floor stretching threat off the catch who can also put the ball on the floor and finish a straight-line drive at the rim. Bryant’s combination of size, athleticism and skill will make him a high major caliber recruit.
Treyvon Maddox Treyvon Maddox 6'7" | SF Gray Collegiate | 2025 State #81 Nation SC , 2025, Gray Collegiate (SC)/Upward Stars
Maddox is a high level feel, pace and IQ combo guard who really knows how to make things happen for himself and his teammates. In transition he was always looking to get the ball up the floor with the pass or get himself a paint touch and bucket or assist. Maddox is an explosive transition athlete whose ability to elevate and finish above the rim is perhaps his most impressive trait.
