Summer Recap: Noah Applegate (2019)
Noah Applegate – 6’6” | W | Indy Heat 16U EYBL | Penn High School
Applegate has been on the radar for quite some time now. The 6’6” wing has proven his offensive abilities over the past two years while expanding his overall impact on the game. Noah played with Spiece Indy Heat 16U during the spring and summer on the EYBL Circuit.
“The experience was great. Playing at Peach Jam and other EYBL events. I’ve never played anything close to that level of play before.” Noah had the opportunity to play against some of the top talent across the nation with this team.
He was an integral part to this team’s success. Noah helped the Indy Heat squad make it to their first ever Nike Peach Jam in early July for the first time in program history.
“ I thought I did my job well as a consistent role player. My job was to play good defense, rebound, and take advantage of opportunities on offense when they came my way.” Applegate has shown that he can rebound with the best of them and this summer was no different. He rebounded at a high rate against some elite players. His hands and tracking ability help him grab rebounds on both ends of the floor. He positions himself well on both backboards to be in the mix for rebounds and put-backs.
Playing with Indy Heat for his second summer, he had the opportunity to make incredible memories this summer. “My favorite memory was by far making it all the way to the final four in Peach Jam. All the guys were great and we got close over the course of the summer because we battled and contributed to the main cause.”
Noah is focusing his next couple months on improving his ball handling abilities. He is a consistent knock-down shooter and scorer with his back to the basket. As he works on his ball handling, it will open up more opportunities to get to the basket off the bounce.
“I think it’ll open up a lot more offensive opportunities for my whole high school team as well.”
Applegate has been receiving interest at the NAIA and DII levels in the past. Most recently he has been hearing from Indiana State University, the University of Toledo, and the United States Air Force Academy.
Look for Noah Applegate to have a strong junior season with Penn as he looks to continue building off his strong sophomore season. Dynamic scorer with a good feel on the offensive end of the floor and knows how to impact games.
