Sunday was our last day at Homestead High School in Mequon, Wisconsin after watching 15 days of hoops there over the past few months.  The NY2LA Sports Summer Jam wrapped up and we have the details on what players made an impression of the last day of competition.   SF Jalen Johnson (Wisconsin Playground Warriors 15U) To be honest it is almost not fair having this 6’6” small forward playing at the 15U level.  He is a man among boys out there!  Johnson has size, strength, athleticism, and skill at an early stage in his career and should continue to get even better in time.  He opened the game with a one handed alley-oop that woke up the morning crowd.  Johnson had an array of takes to the rim with his smooth handles and easy acceleration off the bounce.  Excellent handling the ball in the open floor where he can both pass and finish.  Makes some spectacular passes, but also has some that he forces.  Plus wing rebounder.  The top 10 national prospect in 2020 from Wisconsin had 13 points and 10 boards.  Easy high-major.   SG Nimari Burnett (Dream Vision 16U) Burnett is a prospect that is transferring to California for his sophomore season after a big freshman year at Morgan Park.  The 2020 shooting guard is playing up on the 16U level for his new team and making an immediate impact.  Every time we looked over at his court it was another bucket for him.  Took over their game late against the Illinois Wolves with an array of explosive takes to the hoop and hitting contested jump shots.  Playing with a lot of confidence right now.  Potential high-major player.   SG Matthew Ambrose (Kessel Heat 15U) Ambrose tried to keep his team in the game against a stacked Wisconsin Playground Warriors team.  The coach’s son is a high IQ player that moves without the ball and is best shooting it off the catch.  Drilled several threes keeping Kessel within striking distance in the first half.  Also mixed in a sweet drive, spin, and runner.  He finished with 11 points.  Should be one of Stevenson’s go to players this season.   PG DeAndre Campbell (Ramey-Jets United 17U) Campbell is a player that tends to fly a bit under the radar for Ramey-Jets United 17U with all their star power, but this 6’0” Parkway Central power point guard has some game.  Compact and strong frame.  Best getting in the lane where he uses his strength to finish through defenders.  Had several and-1’s in their Sunday contest.  Scored an array of points in the paint and also got on the offensive glass for put backs.  Tough kid that has some leadership qualities.  Would be worth consideration at the D2/low-major level.   SF Ignas Brazdeikis (CIA Bounce 17U) “Iggy” as he is better known is a skilled 6’8” small forward.  One of the most impressive things about his game is his ability to finish well with either hand.  Extremely efficient shooting floaters with both his natural left hand as well as off right hand.  Has a unique game which allows him to play almost a point forward role at times with his outstanding passing ability.  Sees the floor with his size and passes with touch.  Excellent in the open floor.  He is a solid rebounder and once he grabs the board can go the other way handling it in transition where he is a weapon to pull up, pass, or drive.  Plus three point shooter off the catch and pulling up.  Lacks defensive intensity.  Top 50 player nationally and high-major prospect.   SG Yamani Shareef (Illinois Attack 16U) This Plainfield East 6’2” shooting guard is a new name to add on the radar.  He is a rangy two guard that started off quickly scoring on a few athletic layups and catch and shoot threes.  Cooled down as the game went along, but flashed scoring ability.  Enough to want to come back and track this 2019 during the season.   SG Tyler Herro (Wisconsin Playground Elite 17U) Herro is a five star talent in my opinion.  The future Wisconsin Badger has size, athleticism, and lights out shooting ability from the field!  That was on full display Sunday.  He drills pull up jumpers from all over the floor with great elevation.  Picture perfect shooting mechanics.  Just an elite shooter that will make an impact doing that at the college level from his freshman year on.  Quality athlete as well being able to finish in transition at the rim.   Went for 20+ against Team Harris.   F Aaron Henry (Team Harris 17U) This 6’6” Ben Davis High School product out of Indiana showed exactly why he is on the radar of a lot of high-major schools.  Extremely strong combo forward that is powerful finishing through contact in the paint.  Drives to the rim with strength as he is not going to let his opponent stop him from getting what he wants.  Also shot it at a nice clip in their loss to Playground Elite.  The lefty hit multiple triples.  Big game for him!   SF Cam’Ron Fletcher (Ramey-Jets United 15U) Fletcher is a prospect that at 6’5” has great size for position at a young age with a frame that he should continue to grow.  The wing has a smooth and effortless stroke from the perimeter that he let fly throughout on Sunday.  Drilled multiple triples from the corners and wings.  Also mixed in some mid-range pull ups.  Long strides getting to the hoop make him a weapon there too.  Huge upside for this 2020 wing that needs to be on the radar of D1 programs now!   PG Shaun Harris (Illinois Wolves 15U) Harris is a new player that joined the Wolves this July from Orr.  Rangy point guard with length.  He gets after it on the defensive end being pesky and getting under his opponents skin.  The slick and angular guard is a good ball handler and passer in traffic.  Gets in the lane where he can score a little too.  One to track in 2020 with a stacked Orr squad!
