MBBC Live Saturday Standouts

Here are some standouts I observed during my time in the gym.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2242079' first='Davin' last='Chandler'] | Stephen Decatur '25</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Chandler is a physically gifted guard who is listed as 6-foot-2. He is a solid defender at the point of attack who tends to force turnovers. Chandler was exceptional as a defensive rebounder and had some impressive finishes in traffic.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2231717' first='Kain' last='Corkeron'] | Wilde Lake '24</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Corkeron was undoubtedly one of the more promising finds of the day. The 6'5" southpaw plays an efficient basketball brand predicated on his knockdown shooting ability. Corkeron displays a high basketball IQ and is a vigilant defender who is effective both on and off the ball. He is also a responsible rebounder who consistently helps clean the glass. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1948339' first='David' last='Dorsey'] | Frederick '24</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dorsey's versatility as a defender was evident throughout his team's win over Flowers. The 6'6" forward is a physical post defender who provides ample lane and rim protection. Dorsey's shot looks good coming off his fingers and proved he can be a threat from three with his feet set. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2242032' first='Donnell' last='Dorsey'] | Oxon Hill '25</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dorsey set the tone for the Clippers by catching a lob not long after the opening tip during his team's win over Southern-AA. Along with being an explosive finisher, he is a good rebounder and a reliable rim protector. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2231772' first='Julian' last='King'] | Bowie '25</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There's plenty to like about King's long-term potential given his combination of size and athleticism at 6'7". He potentially can bring some value down the line as a high-level finisher who can be good for a minimum of five rebounds per game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2242036' first='Jelani' last='Lee'] | Douglass '25</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lee looks like he will play a prominent role at Douglass moving forward. He's a 6'3" wing who is a threat from three and defends actively both on and off the ball. Lee is also equipped to power through contact when finishing at the rim. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Cam Ward | Largo '25</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ward reinforced his credentials as the area's top prospect in 2025 after helping Largo defeat Edmondson-Westside in front of Georgetown's Ed Cooley, Florida State's Kevin Nickelberry, and Louisville's Nolan Smith among a host of others. Ward's willingness to share the ball with his teammates, encourage them, and lead by example were all keys to his team's positive result. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2242139' first='Khalil' last='Wilson'] | Richard Montgomery '25</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wilson had one of the better shooting performances of the day when he hit 6 of 8 triples on his way to scoring 23 points in a win over Eleanor Roosevelt. He not only made shots but attacked closeouts effectively and had some strong finishes in the lane. Wilson is a rangy guard who helped rebound and had multiple deflections. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
