Expert Analysis
Jed Tai | Prep Hoops Scout
Always an X-factor on both sides of the ball, Gentry fills in with whatever Barlow needs out of him on a game-by-game basis. Against Mountain View, the rising senior did a little bit of everything. He knocked down open shots, moved the ball effectively as the Bruins ran their offense, and did the dirty work such as hit the boards and lock down on D. At the end of the day, the statsheet showed a typical Gentry-like game of 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.

A smart, experienced guard, Gentry plays with strong poise and a clear understanding of the game. He’s effective attacking the rim as a slasher, using his IQ and decision-making to get to good spots on the floor. A solid basketball IQ leader, he helps set the tone for his team with communication and control of the offense. Gentry is a capable rebounder for his size and can also knock down shots from the outside when needed, adding versatility to his scoring game. In the game against Oregon Tripl3, he finished with 16 points.

Gentry, a 6’1″ combo guard, brings strong defensive energy and a team-first mentality to the floor. He’s an active on-ball defender who consistently forces turnovers, often grabbing a couple of steals per game. Offensively, he’s a decent outside shooter who plays within the system and makes smart decisions. Gentry’s effort, defensive instincts, and willingness to do the little things make him a valuable guard with plenty of upside. (AG)
