Updated 2024 Rankings: Forwards (15-6)

We recently updated our class of 2024 rankings in the state of Virginia, with a lot of new faces and movement throughout the rankings. The rankings consist of 155 prospects, making it the most in depth rankings in the state.   We will take a look at the rankings by position over the next few days. Here's a look at part two of our forwards rankings, looking at numbers 15-6 of the power forwards and centers in the junior class.   15) [player_tooltip player_id='1489103' first='Grant' last='Polk'] | 6'6” PF | Gainesville (#49 Overall)   Polk is one of the more interesting prospects on this list, because he plays as a big man now but if he gets his body right he could play on the perimeter when college comes around. The 6'6” forward is a walking mismatch as he has the size to bang in the paint and rebound, but he's also a super high level shooter who is one of the best in the NOVA area. He's had a good spring so far with NOVA Cavs shooting the basketball at a very high clip, playing in transition and rebounding well on both ends.   14) Brandon Ahlers | 6'7” C | Osbourn (#43 Overall)   Ahlers is an intriguing prospect as he has good physical and athletic tools and is a late bloomer that just continues to get better and better. He has very long arms with an impressive 6'7” frame, so he's able to protect the paint against driving guards and guard well in one-on-one post ups as well. Offensively he can score in the paint on post ups and by hitting the offensive glass, he has improved immensely on his ability to step out and knock down shots and he runs the floor well in transition too.   13) [player_tooltip player_id='1489085' first='Isaiah' last='Vick'] | 6'7” PF | Patriot (#41 Overall)   Vick is another intriguing long term prospect, as he is a new school type of big man that has a lot of versatility and can do a lot of things on the floor. He's a perimeter oriented big who allows his team to play 5 out with his ability to shoot and put it on the deck on the offensive end, he can switch and guard multiple positions and he's a good athlete who rebounds and defends the paint. He continues to get better and is a stat sheet stuffer that is a walking mismatch.   12) [player_tooltip player_id='1489084' first='Sean' last='Donovan'] | 6'7” C | WT Woodson (#40 Overall)   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/05/Donovan-Sean-Head-Shot.png"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/05/Donovan-Sean-Head-Shot.png?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1465435" /></a></figure>   Donovan is coming off a big junior season at Woodson and continuing that success on a talented NOVA Cavs front court that college coaches should definitely be watching this summer. The 6'7” big man has an inside-out game that allows him to be both productive and make it easy for his teammates to get opportunities. He can score around the rim with both hands, he has good back-to-the-basket moves when he posts and he can step out to 18 feet where he can make shots too.   11) [player_tooltip player_id='1259628' first='Abu' last='Yarmah'] | 6'6” PF | Patrick-Henry (Roanoke) (#35 Overall)   Yarmah is flirting with the idea of a reclassification to the 2025 class after leading Patrick-Henry to another deep playoff run, and if he does that he'll be highly recruited with the trajectory he's gone through. He's been very productive since he was a freshman with his high motor and athleticism, but he's starting to transition his game more to the perimeter as of late. He's a long big who can protect the rim and rebound, he can put it on the deck against slower defenders and blow by them and he makes plays on both ends of the floor.   10) [player_tooltip player_id='1260001' first='Ben' last='Nacey'] | 6'9' C | Cox (#34 Overall)   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/06/Nacey-Ben.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/06/Nacey-Ben.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1478559" /></a></figure>   Nacey had one of the most productive seasons of anyone on this list, as the 6'9” big man was one of the best players in the 757 and has continued that with Team Push this spring. He's an old school big man that has great touch around the rim and is a load to deal with in the paint. He seals well and can finish over either shoulder in one-on-one post ups demanding a double team , he hits the offensive glass with ferocity and gets easy points off extra possessions and he uses his body well and gets to the line where he converts at a high rate.   9) [player_tooltip player_id='1107851' first='Owen' last='Gray'] | 6'8” C | Steward School (#24 Overall)   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/09/Gray-Owen-scaled.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/09/Gray-Owen-scaled.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1581476" /></a></figure>   Gray has been on the radar of college coaches for a long time, and he's had a good showing so far this spring with Team Curry on the UA Circuit drawing even more interest from division one schools. It's easy to see why he's so intriguing, as he's more athletic than most prospects that are his size. He runs the floor hard in transition and finishes above the rim with authority, he hits the glass well and gets extra possessions for his team and he can protect the rim and alter shots without fouling too.   8) [player_tooltip player_id='1489077' first='Elijah' last='Flowers'] | 6'6” PF | Potomac School (#23 Overall)   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/04/20230416_191145.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/04/20230416_191145.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1919712" /></a></figure>   Flowers is another versatile big man that is flirting with the idea of a reclassification, and it would really help him physically fill out to go along with his talented game. At 6'6” he's a walking mismatch of a four man that has great ball skills to go along with long arms and good athleticism. He can put it on the deck and has good speed in transition and a quick first step, he can knock down shots from deep and in the midrange consistently and he has huge upside defensively as he continues to grow and fill out.   7) [player_tooltip player_id='1354479' first='Jamie' last='Vinson'] | 6'10” C | Oak Hill Academy (#19 Overall)   Vinson took a big jump from the last rankings as he was overshadowed on this talented Oak Hill team, but more digging and film showed that he's a big time division one recruit with tons of upside moving forward. He's an inside-out big man who can drill shots from deep and works well at the high post, he's an athletic and explosive finisher around the rim and his length and athleticism allows him to alter shots too. He moves well and has a frame that should fill out, and he still has room to fill out and improve moving forward.   6) [player_tooltip player_id='1259622' first='Shanon' last='Simango'] | 6'7” C | Blue Ridge (#14 Overall)   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/09/Simango-Shanon-CBG-scaled.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/09/Simango-Shanon-CBG-scaled.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1585826" /></a></figure>   Simango is coming off a big junior season at Blue Ridge where he helped lead Blue Ridge to a VISAA D1 semifinal appearance, and his high motor makes him a nightmare to matchup with. He may be a little short for his position but he's a strong and athletic player who continues to improve and gets the job done against the best of the best. He runs the floor very hard and is an explosive finisher above the rim, he has great upper body strength to clear out space and finish around the rim, he's a monster on the glass who rebounds over bigger defenders and he has improved his touch out to 15 feet a lot over the years.
