With the Spring 2023 grassroots circuit set to officially tip off the coming weekend, we thought it was time for us to make five bold predictions for the upcoming tournaments.

1) [player_tooltip player_id='1400497' first='Erik' last='Oliver-Bush'] Will Get Multiple Offers

During the 2022-23 high season this 6'5”, senior wing/small forward averaged 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists per game as the 4th / 5th option for a stacked Roman Catholic team. Oliver-Bush capped off his outstanding season by helping Roman win the PCL title. Unfortunately, he was ruled ineligible by PIAA transfer rules for Roman's run to the District 12-6A hardware and the 6A state tournament championship game. Thus Oliver-Bush missed an important stretch of the recruiting window. This spring Oliver-Bush is playing with K-Low Elite. The grassroots circuit is the perfect place for Oliver-Bush to showcase his size, elite athleticism, accurate 3-point shooting and transition scoring. So, we are willing to bet that he picks up one or more offers over the next four weeks.

2) Philly Pride UAA-17U Will Roll

The new additions the top Philly Pride 2024 team are extraordinarily impressive. Scoring wing [player_tooltip player_id='1472575' first='Nasir' last='Washington'], elite point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1281811' first='Izaiah' last='Pasha'], shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1577636' first='Jermai' last='Stewart-Herring'] and 6'10” center Jake Warren are among the standouts new to the squad this spring. Combine that foursome with a returning prospect list that includes guards Ty Burton (offer from Manhattan) and [player_tooltip player_id='991421' first='Ryan' last='Williams'] (multiple DI offers), wing [player_tooltip player_id='1281777' first='Greg' last='Guidinger'] (multiple DI offers), as well as big man [player_tooltip player_id='1173984' first='Matt' last='Gilhool'] (multiple DI offers) and you get an insanely talented roster. Once they gel as a team, look out.

3) [player_tooltip player_id='1269299' first='Ryan' last='Mulroy'] Will Have a Breakout Spring

Mulroy (Upper Dublin / Philly Revolution) is a knock down three-point shooter with textbook mechanics and a quick trigger. Those assets are complimented by his constant off ball movement and ability to find open creases in the defense. He is also a master at using a pump fake, then a quick side dribble to fire off a 3-ball. As a bonus to his perimeter shooting, Mulroy can use his dribble skills and high IQ to create for himself or to distribute to open teammates. In 2022-23 Mulroy compiled ridiculous sophomore year stats – 13 ppg., 7 rpg., and 2.4 apg. He scored 20+ points four times, including a 23-point effort against CB East. Despite an excellent high school season, Mulroy is somehow flying under the radar. That will all change this spring.

4) PMT / Berks Warriors 17U is a Sneaky Good Squad

While this team lacks a bona fide superstar, the roster contains a slew of underrated prospects that we were extremely impressed with during the 2022-23 high school season. For example, guards [player_tooltip player_id='1195389' first='Nick' last='Chapman'] and Nico Sosa, as well as forward [player_tooltip player_id='2383207' first='Malik' last='Osumanu'] were key role players on a Reading team that won the 6A state title. All three are primed for an impactful spring/summer. The Warriors will also get major contributions from PIAA district / state tournament breakout prospects [player_tooltip player_id='1850267' first='Reece' last='Garvin'], Kevin Saenz, and Kyle Archie. Finally, keep an eye on 6'8” prospect Nolan Gerwer.

5) [player_tooltip player_id='1281760' first='Isaac' last='Dye'] Will Improve his Recruiting Stock Dramatically

We first wrote about Dye during the July 2022 grassroots circuit after he relocated from Texas and was a late addition to Team Final Red's roster. Last summer he showed flashes of DI skills, but we had no idea he could be this good. During the 2022-23 high school season Dye tore it up for State College Area. He posted 14.6 points and 5 rebounds per game while splashing 84 threes on the season. Dye (1st Team All Mid-Penn Conference) scored a season high of 26 points and had three games where he drained 6 or more triples. As a bonus to his lethal 3-point shooting (47%), Dye can get out on the fast break and finish through traffic. Finally, he owns enough handles to score off dribble-drives. We are expecting him to use the momentum from his impressive winter to produce a monster grassroots circuit with PA Coalition HGSL and thus push his recruiting stock up significantly.
