The Prep Hoops Circuit got underway this weekend all across the country and the PH Grind Region Kickoff took place in the Oklahoma City area. Prep Hoops had wall to wall coverage of the event and we'll continue to crank out player spotlight articles over the next several days. But in this post, it's all about the 17U division and the best of the best with our 17U All Tourney Team. These game changers were at the top of their game throughout the weekend. The 17U division had some outstanding talent but these five were the best of the bunch and proved it with their play on the court.

C4 Attack was one of several teams that finished the weekend with an unbeaten record. Wolfe City 2024 guard Brett Nix was a big reason behind that. Nix is an outstanding scorer out of Texas and he backed that up with his performance this weekend, filling up the stat sheet in almost every single game. Nix eclipsed 2,000 career points late in his junior season and we saw first hand how easily he can fill it up. There were a few standouts from C4 Attack’s squad, including Calera’s Devin Brown Devin Brown Devin Brown 6'5" | PF Calera | 2024 State OK , who had a really good weekend. But when it came down to just picking one player, we gave the slight edge to Nix with his ability to score from just about everywhere on the floor. Nix was one of the better scorers in the 17U division this weekend and it’s no surprise that he’s been filling it up down in Texas for the last several years now.

Oklahoma Primetime and Rogue played arguably the best game of the weekend on Saturday evening when they went to three overtimes and the game was back and forth throughout. Primetime edged out Rogue in the third overtime and Yukon 2024 guard Dylan Snow Dylan Snow Dylan Snow 5'10" | PG Yukon | 2024 State OK absolutely went off in the showcase game. Snow would finish with a game-high 28 points and was hitting shots from all over the court. He really started heating up in the second half and the only thing that slowed him down was a lower leg cramp that sidelined him in the second half just as he was starting to get on a roll. Those 28 points could have been much more if he didn’t have to exit the game. Nevertheless, Snow did return to the floor and finished the game out in strong fashion as he helped his team score a very big win. It was one of the more impressive performances of the weekend.

Jack Bommarito

School: Denton Ryan

I Am 3 Prospects brought their high school team as well as an unsigned seniors squad to the tournament and the unsigned seniors made the most of their opportunity. And leading the way for them was Denton Ryan 2023 guard Jack Bommarito as he was routinely their best player every time I saw them play in person. Bommarito is a big guard that has a good flow to his game on the offensive end of the floor. He made plenty of splashy plays throughout the weekend but he was also physical throughout and at 6’5, he had a size advantage against a lot of guards and even some forwards when he got in the paint. Bommarito was scoring the ball at a high clip throughout the weekend and grabbed the attention of several writers throughout the tournament. Whether it was dunks in transition or pull up jumpers, Bommarito had himself a very successful tournament.

Thunder Elite Oklahoma had a good weekend, going 3-1 with the only loss coming to one of the few 4-0 teams in the tournament. Preston 2024 guard Jervais Goree Jervais Goree Jervais Goree 5'8" | PG Preston | 2024 State OK was one of the stars of the weekend as he showcased his ability to fill up the stat sheet and do it in a variety of ways. When you watch Goree, the first thing that stands out immediately is his range. Goree will pull it from just about anywhere and his efficiency on the offensive end of the floor is pretty high considering the volume of shots. Goree might be one of the more undersized guards in Oklahoma’s 2024 class but don’t let that fool you. Goree is electric with the ball in his hands and he was one of the quicker players off the dribble that we saw this weekend. Goree is a 2024 prospect that has been on our radar for a while now but it was good to really watch him up close throughout the weekend.

Merkv Torrance

School: Harding Charter Prep

The other four players on this breakdown have been on the radar either in Oklahoma or in Texas but our last All Tourney selection was a breakout star this weekend. While playing with Team Movement, Harding Prep 2024 guard Merkv Torrance was outstanding throughout the tournament as he probably averaged 25-30 points per game in their four games this weekend. In one game in particular, Torrance and his Team Movement squad fell to Bommarito and the I Am 3 Prospects unsigned senior team, but Torrance could not be stopped as he filled up the stat sheet for 30+ points. He had another game on Saturday where he dropped 27 points. Torrance was one of the best scorers that we saw throughout the weekend and he definitely earned his way on this list. His team went 2-2 but Torrance could not be contained and is definitely on the radar now.
