Hess is a really good slasher for this Alder squad. He got to the rim often for them. He does a great job of using contact. He uses it well to create space for himself to get his shot off. He slightly bumps into you, gets you out of position, and then scores. He does not get sped up when attacking the rim. Once they gave him space and helped off he started to knock down 3s. He hit a couple of big-time 3s in the 2nd half.

Named fall league MVP, Hess had an excellent season in this league, knocking down shots from the perimeter every Saturday morning. It’s the second straight year a Jonathan Alder player has won Midwest Fall League Columbus MVP after Peyton Heiss won it last year. Congrats to Hess for winning MVP and his team for claiming the championship.

One of the elite shooters in central Ohio’s 2025 class, Hess should play a leading role for a Jonathan Alder squad who will once again be favorites to win their conference. With a quick release and the range to extend out well beyond the 3-point line, Hess is a tough cover. I thought he showed the most improvement as a passer on Saturday as he hit cutters and didn’t force the issue. After graduating Peyton Heiss, this passing development from Hess could come at the perfect time as he’ll be relied on to create for his teammates as a senior leader.

Hess is a sniper. He has everything you want from a shooter. His shot is so pretty and the ball has perfect rotation. He has great footwork and can shoot it off the move or the dribble. He has an unlimited range. Hess is also an extremely confident player so his shot comes off his hand quickly. He is also a very nice passer. He always sees the entire court.

Another Midwest Basketball Club standout, Hess is an elite shooter for Midwest Basketball Club Sayre/Maurer. We could see a teammate of Hess make a push to join him in our rankings with a big weekend.

Jonathan Alder has had a history of producing tough guards and Hess is next in line from that program. Watching him during the grassroots season with Midwest Basketball Club Sayre, Hess was knocking down 3-pointers at a high rate. While he was inconsistent from behind the 3-point line during the high school season, he still managed to score 7.1 PPG which was second on his team. With star

returning, Jonathan Alder once again projects to be near the top of the Central Buckeye Conference with Heiss and Hess leading the way in the back-court.

A big-time shooter, Hess was making shots from all over the court on Saturday afternoon. A dangerous shooter from even a few feet behind the 3-point line, Hess was letting it fly from deep. After making a few 3’s, he took advantage of an aggressive defense that looked to run him off the line by passing it to open teammates. I was impressed with the overall offensive performance Hess gave from the guard position, Jonathan Alder has some impressive shooters returning next season and should be one of the better teams in D2 from central Ohio.
