Jamal was putting on a show with the ball in his hands on Friday, seeing just about everything fall. The unsigned senior scored 27 points in a tight loss, almost pulling off the upset over Real Phenom. In the first half, Woods saw all of his success come at the rim, using the combination of his speed and strength to will himself to the basket. He started to get hot from the perimeter in the second half, but it was ultimately not enough to pull out the win.

The unsigned senior from Fridley had another big scoring game, as he’s so smooth on the ball with the ability to create space on the perimeter or blow by his man to get to the basket. When Woods brings in a defensive rebound, he’s immediately looking to push the ball ahead, able to weave through defenders as he goes coast-to-coast to the rim. He just seems to glide when he elevates to finish and then has the soft touch to lay it off the glass in traffic. Can also elevate for a pull-up jumper and was on fire from three for a stretch.

Jamal put up some huge scoring numbers on Saturday night. The unsigned senior out of Minnesota was creating space with ease as he covers so much ground with a single dribble, and his change of speed made him very unpredictable on the ball. Gets good elevation on his pull-up jumper with a dangerous mid-range game. Would get his man on his hip and then had him at his mercy as he could burst to the rim or stop on a dime for a pull-up jumper. Minnesota prospect still on the board in the 2023 class.

Jamal had one of the more impressive scoring performances on the day for Start Strong. The unsigned senior was so dangerous as an isolation scorer due to his change of speed on the ball and ability to stop on a dime for a pull-up jumper. Multiple times in the second half I saw him beat his man, pin him on his hip, and then elevate for a mid-range jumper all while drawing a foul from behind. Did a nice job of coming off ball-screens tight, and then reading the defense to determine how he attacked. Jamal gets great elevation on his pull-up jumper making it difficult to get a clean contest on.
