2025 Houston Stock Rising Athletes

The beginning of 2023 in January/February has certainly produced some high quality basketball in the city of Houston. Many players are starting to hit the grind hard, trying to make a name for themselves in tough district games and competitive matchups. 3 players from the 2025 class in particular have stuck out to me as of late and have been upping their stock since the beginning of 2023. Let's take a look at these three athletes….   [player_tooltip player_id='1359650' first='Bryson' last='Wheatfall']- Summer Creek Bulldogs, Class of 2025   Bryson has been a big time player on this Summer Creek varsity team since their season began and continues to make an impact coming out of the starting lineup. One of Wheatfall's biggest district games came in a close 56-57 loss to CE King on January 11th.  Despite struggling at the free throw line going for 10/20 in the game, Bryson managed to shoot 8 of 9 from the field and come away with 22 points while also making an impact on the defensive end of the floor. Ever since transferring from St. Pius X, Bryson seems to have found his footing playing in what many consider to be the toughest district in the state of Texas. Summer Creek is currently fighting for a playoff spot and he will be one of the main weapons this team will rely on down the stretch to get the job done in close games. Bryson is one of those prospects in the 2025 class that is a great all around player in any system he is put into and will find different ways to impact the game from all levels. Look for him to make a statement going into the latter half of the season and continuing momentum possibly into playoffs.   [player_tooltip player_id='1226457' first='Eric' last='Lavergne']- CE King Panthers, Class of 2025   Eric is a very underrated playmaker for his CE King squad coming down their district stretch and he continues to make a big time push for his place in the 2025 rankings. Eric had a monster game in the 57-56 victory against Summer Creek on January 11th, leading his team in scoring with 22 pts on 7/8 from the field and nailing all 8 of his free throws from the foul stripe. Lavergne continues to impress as only a sophomore and is also efficient when the ball is in his hands as the point guard running the offense. His stock will only continue to rise as his team relies on him more, especially with the second unit. Eric has always been impressive every time I've watched him play and he always has a positive attitude towards teammates and opponents alike. He lets his play do the talking and will do anything his coaches ask to contribute to a team win.  This young man has a bright future and will continue to shine in a tough district that asks a lot of a player.   [player_tooltip player_id='1755792' first='Jeremiah' last='Cooper']- Westfield Mustangs, Class of 2025   Jeremiah is a force to be reckoned with on a tough and physical Mustangs team in a hard nosed district. Cooper stands at 6'8 and is the man in the middle for his squad. He possesses tremendous athleticism on the defensive end, blocking shots at the basket and soaring up to grab rebounds. Cooper began making a statement in this district when he dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds in a 37-42 loss to Benjamin Davis. Jeremiah shot 6/9 from the field and ended up with 6 or 7 blocks as well. Westfield is looking to keep pace in a tough district this season as they have to face foes such as  Davis, Eisenhower, and Macarthur. Jeremiah will continue to make a huge difference for his team if he keeps up this level of play and will have to match up with some of the other top big men in Houston coming up later in the season.
