The event featured both post grad and high school teams, and had some great matchups with some of the best games we’ve seen all year. Here’s a look at some of the top performers from the Virginia schools in attendance.
Carmelo Pacheco | 6’4” WG | Fork Union ’23
Pacheco was coming off of a big weekend at the Hargrave Military Circuit, and he followed it up with another big weekend at home where he showed again he’s one of the top shooters in the Elite Prep League. The 6’4” wing was lights out from deep in both games making over 5 three-pointers in both of them, and he showed a little more as he finished around the rim and got to the midrange too. He has a super quick release and if he’s left alone he will consistently make you pay from deep.
Don Douglass | 6’8” C | Fork Union ’23
Douglass has consistently gotten better throughout the year, and in their win over Experience Academy he was dominant in the paint, showing good athleticism and soft touch as well. He moved well off the ball moving so drivers could drop it off to him where he finished above the rim with authority, he sealed hard and showed the ability to finish over the shoulders and he rebounded and ran the floor as well. He was consistent as a scorer and brought toughness throughout the weekend.
Reece D’Alessandro | 6’0” PG | Fork Union ’23
D’Alessandro has emerged as their go-to floor general and ball handler over the season, and he’s consistently gotten better over time and now is one of their more confident players. He exudes toughness and leadership as he guards the ball hard and isn’t afraid to stick his nose in for tie ups and steals, he talks on defense and holds his teammates accountable and he handles pressure and makes plays for others. He’s a very good shooter from deep and he’s able to create with wiggle off the bounce and finish at the rim.
Adrian Myers Adrian Myers 6'5" | SF Massanutten | 2023 State | 6’7” F | Massanutten ’23
Myers had a big weekend for Massanutten who got a huge win over #1 Hargrave and loss a heartbreaker to Moc Valley in overtime, but he was consistent as a scorer and a defender in both games. He showed his athleticism finishing above the rim on lobs and in transition while protecting the rim too, he made shots from deep and he showed his ability to post up and score in the midrange too. He finished with 26 points against Hargrave and 28 against Moc Valley.
Chase Nelson Chase Nelson 6'0" | PG Massanutten Military Academy | 2023 | 6’0” PG | Massanutten ’23
Nelson has emerged as one of the Colonel’s best shot makers, and he’s been shooting the absolute lights out over the past few months. He can handle the ball and initiate the offense but he’s really good when he gives it up and can move off the ball to get open, and whether it’s within a set or in transition he’ll let it fly and you can almost always count it when he does. He finished with 23 points hitting 7 three’s in their win over Hargrave and 16 points hitting 4 three’s against Moc Valley.
Troy McKoy Troy McKoy 6'4" | SG Cushing Academy (MA) | 2024 #200 Nation | 6’5” WG | Massanutten ’24
McKoy has emerged as the leader for this Massanutten team, and he was absolutely fantastic this weekend stepping up big down the stretch in both of their games and getting big buckets for them when they needed it. He’s a true three level scorer with the ability to finish through traffic and knock down shots off the catch and off the bounce, he rebounds the ball very well and he has a knack for getting buckets when they need it the most. He finished with 28 points in their win over Hargrave and 30 in their loss to Moc Valley.
Ed Harrison Ed Harrison 6'6" | PF Miller School | 2024 State | 6’5” PF | Miller School ’24
Harrison is one of the top glue guys for this talented Miller School team, and he was big time in their win over Wesley Christian. The 6’5” forward is hard to game plan for because his game is different than it looks, as he’s a big guy but he really thrives on the perimeter with his ability to shoot it from deep and he moves well for his size. He finished with 14 points and 4 assists in their win.
