We recently updated our junior class rankings in the state of VA, and we will take a look at each positional ranking from guards, wings and forwards. Obviously some of these players are positionless players that can fit in multiple spots, but we did our best to categorize them based on their skillset.

Here's a look at part one of the shooting guards and small forwards in the new rankings.

25) [player_tooltip player_id='1232158' first='Doyle' last='Brown'] | 6'2” SG | Flint Hill (#55 Overall)

Brown is a very talented two guard who can do a little bit of everything on the floor and is a productive two way player. He moves well off the ball and can get set quickly and shoots it very well from deep, he can attack closeouts and get in the lane where he's a solid finisher and he's a very good on ball defender who makes ball handlers uncomfortable.

24) [player_tooltip player_id='1259636' first='Peter' last='Mitchell'] | 6'2” SG | Potomac (#54 Overall)

Mitchell is a big reason that Potomac has been one of the top teams in the NOVA area, and he's an all-around two guard that can impact the game in a number of ways. The 6'2” lefty has long arms and moves his feet well defensively to stay in front of ball handlers, he shoots the ball well from deep off the catch and has a good midrange pull-up game and he plays with a high motor and makes winning plays.

23) [player_tooltip player_id='1489075' first='Isaiah' last='Fuhrmann'] | 6'5” SF | Nansemond-Suffolk (#51 Overall)

Fuhrmann is a two sport athlete who also stars on the football field as well as the basketball court, and he has a lot of intriguing tools as a prospect. At 6'5” he has a great frame and is a high flying athlete who can play above the rim and guard multiple positions, he's a good shooter from deep off the catch and he's a stat sheet stuffer who rebounds and makes plays on both ends of the floor.

22) [player_tooltip player_id='1236440' first='Alex' last='Chaikin'] | 6'4” SG | Trinity Episcopal (#50 Overall)

Chaikin is a big reason that TES has been one of the biggest surprises in VISAA D1, and he's been putting up big numbers all year as one of their go-to scorers. The 6'4” shooting guard is highly skilled as he can create off the bounce and get to spots in the midrange and at the rim, he's a knock down shooter from deep off the catch and he is super crafty as a finisher and shot maker.

21) [player_tooltip player_id='1759723' first='Timayahs' last='Bracey'] | 6'0” SG | Hargrave (#49 Overall)

Bracey has been one of the most consistent and improved players over the past few years, as he's grown both physically and in his game and has become a well-rounded guard with a lot of positive attributes. He has always shot the cover off the ball and has deep range, he has improved a lot in his ability to put it on the deck and make plays in the pick-and-roll and he has a good IQ and understanding as a defender.

20) [player_tooltip player_id='1259621' first='Dominique' last='Bailey'] | 6'2” SG | John Marshall (#48 Overall)

Bailey is the type of player you love to have on your team and hate to play against, as he is one of the best defenders in the state and does all of the little things to help his team win. He has great anticipation defensively and takes a lot of charges, he can guard the other team's best offensive threat and can take him completely out of the game, he's developed into a consistent shooter and he's a very good rebounder for his position.

19) [player_tooltip player_id='1260002' first='Kameron' last='Tinsley'] | 6'5” SF | Cave Spring (#46 Overall)

Tinsley is one of the most intriguing young prospects in the Roanoke area, as he has a lot of tools that check the boxes including good size and a smooth jumper. At 6'5” he has long arms and is a natural athlete who's fluid and explosive, he shoots the ball well from deep off the catch and is good in the midrange with the pull-up and he's a good defender who jumps passing lanes and uses his length to get deflections.

18) [player_tooltip player_id='1489079' first='Miles' last='Franklin'] | 6'4” SF | Madison (#45 Overall)

Franklin is a rising star in the NOVA area and is chock full of potential with his athleticism and size coupled with his budding skill set. He's a big time athlete in transition and when he gets downhill he gets to the rim aggressively, he is a good rebounder and defender and he's becoming a more consistent shooter and ball handler as well.

17) Darnell Thomas | 6'6” SG | Edison (#42 Overall)

Thomas is another budding star in the NOVA area and as he continues to develop he could jump up the list and see college coaches come knocking soon. At 6'6” he has a big frame and is a strong finisher that gets downhill and finishes around the rim, he's a good defender and rebounder and he plays with a great motor that makes him productive across the board.

16) [player_tooltip player_id='1759718' first='Teddy' last='Morgan'] | 6'6” SF | Edison (#37 Overall)

Morgan is another big wing for this Edison team that is chock full of potential and he's starting to put his game together and become a more consistent contributor throughout the season. He has great size that translates to the next level, he's a good defender who can guard multiple positions and can come help side to protect the rim and he's a good shooter who can knock it down from deep consistently.

We recently updated our junior class rankings in the state of VA, and we will take a look at each positional ranking from guards, wings and forwards. Obviously some of these players are positionless players that can fit in multiple spots, but we did our best to categorize them based on their skillset.
