The all-day event features 12 teams with rich basketball history and a handful of Division 1 prospects. There’s also a good amount of senior prospects that have the talent to play college basketball but are still waiting for an offer. Let’s take a look at some of the top upperclassmen who will be at the Gotta Get It Classic that are awaiting an offer.
Donovan Hamlin Donovan Hamlin 6'4" | SF Flint Carman-Ainsworth | 2025 State MI , Carman Ainsworth 23″
Donovan is a good athlete with a ton of burst. He can elevate and finish above the rim. He has the size to defend bigger guards and can even slide into the frontcourt. He plays with a constant motor and attacks the glass with consistent effort.
Eli Hennings Eli Hennings 6'5" | PF Carman Ainsworth | 2023 State MI , Carman Ainsworth 23″
Eli is a talented wing that can play multiple positions due to his length and athleticism. He’s a very talented wideout on the football field and uses those same skills on the court, especially on the glass.
Donovan Thames Donovan Thames 5'11" Grand Rapids Christian | 2023 MI , Grand Rapids Christian 23″
Donovan is one of the best pure scorers in the state, period. I’m of the opinion that he would have multiple offers right now if not for his size. His handle, ability to shake his man and his shot make him one of the better guards in the state who is waiting for an offer.
Marshaun Flakes Marshaun Flakes 6'2" | SG East Kentwood | 2023 State MI , East Kentwood 23″
Marshaun has one of the better mid-range games I’ve seen in person over the past couple of years. He gets good lift on his jumper and is consistent and smooth with his release. Another guy you can depend on to get you 15-20 points on any given night. Defensively he’s quicker than most guards he matches up against and is a catalyst of Mike Thomas’s pressure defense.
Derrick King Jr., Ottawa Hills 23″
Derrick is one of the fastest guards from West Michigan, and is a big reason why the Bengals are off to a strong start this season. He plays with constant energy and is hard to stop when he gets out in transition. I’m fascinated to see him match up with Carman’s backcourt on Saturday.
Isaiah Bradford, Ottawa Hills 23″
Isaiah is another talented guard from Ottawa Hills. Much like Derrick King Jr., Isaiah can get up and down the court in a hurry and has the ability and athleticism to finish through contact. Isaiah is also one of the better shooters sin the area and doesn’t need much space to get his shot off.
