We are lucky in our corner of the world, high school basketball, to see some of the possible leaders of the next generation. We get to witness first hand some young ladies that could be difference makers while following their path. Let’s look at a few of the seniors that could make a difference for years to come.
Have you ever watched Taylor play? If you have, I know you see the way that teammates respond to him. He’s the ultimate leader on the basketball court. Now, imagine him taking that leadership off the court as well. Taylor is the type of basketball player, and person, that peers want to stand next to when times get tough. Briggs is a shining example for future generations. He didn’t listen to the naysayers and knew that he would be great. Too small? I don’t think so. Questioning his jumper? Not so much. That willingness to prove anyone and everyone wrong is what we need from leaders off the court as well. Briggs has been great ever since he stepped on a high school court and I believe that he will be great as a role model for generations to come.
Welch has been a huge part of a program recharge at Lansing Waverly. His quickness off the ground and touch around the rim have paved the way to success. Now imagine Welch being part of a societal growth, similar to what he helped with his high school basketball program. In the words of recruitment – It transfers. I believe that Welch will go on to do great things on and off the court.
Thomas III deserves greatness. I’ve seen the way that this young man has tirelessly put in work to be great. It was awesome to see the way he performed at the Top 250 this fall. He put it all together. Young hoopers should know his path to success. It can be inspirational. Thomas III can be that same inspiration off the court as well. He’s a well spoken and respectful young man, just a great person. We need leaders like that and I know that Thomas III will play a key role in many lives in the future.
