Here are 5 players who impressed during the game:
Siyani Arthur (Guard, BK Law and Tech)- Siyani was the most impressive player in the game and it was not exactly close. Often times, smaller guards now begin to look for their own shot over their teammates but this was not the case for Siyani. The primary focus of Siyani’s game is to get his teammates involved through exploiting mismatches and draw the defense close because of his shooting ability. If the opposing team left Siyani open for even a second, he had no hesitation pulling up from deep. His form is clean and reliable. The outcome of the previous shot has zero effect on Siyani’s shooting confidence. Siyani has a high basketball IQ which he uses to help elevate his team’s play in all aspect of the game. When Siyani doesn’t have the ball in his hand, he is running off of picks and moving off ball to help draw the defense out or get himself an open three. On the defensive end, Siyani excels at stealing the ball but is rarely caught in a bad gamble. Siyani is comfortable leaking out or running the transition offense as well.
Kyle Dhu (Forward, BK Law and Tech)- Kyle had the strongest motor of anyone in the game. As the game went on his relentless attacking of the basket, constant hustle and effort in transition wore the other team out. In the second half, Kyle found himself with nothing but an open lane between him and the basket due to his high effort and motor. Against tougher competition, Kyle would probably be more suited to play a guard but he excelled at forward as well. Kyle has strong fundamentals in his footwork and his shooting stroke.
Keysaun Murray (Forward, BK Law and Tech) Sometimes it looked like Keysaun had magnets on his hands that he used to grab boards out of the hands of bigger players. Keysaun was constantly looking to get into the rebounding scrum and often cam out victorious on his second or even third efforts inside. Keysaun plays the game with a tenacious and fearless mentally going for rebounds, loose balls and seeking to defend the other team’s best player. On both sides of the ball, Keysaun knows his game and makes the right play within his role, never over extending. Keysaun has great athletic potential and showed some capability as an outside shooter.
Aiddan Smith (Forward, Winggate)- Aiddan is the heart and soul of his team. Winggate was neck and neck with Brooklyn Law and Tech until Aiddan went down with an ankle injury. Aiddan has an excellent combination of length, strength and speed which he used to attack the basket and punish smaller defenders. Despite being in clear pain from his tweaked ankle, Aiddan checked back into the game to try and lift his team up and get a win. Aiddan plays the game with a clear passion and killer mentality.
Jordan King (Forward, Winggate)The game slows down for Jordan when he realizes just how much bigger and stronger he is than most of the other players out there. Jordan has the tools to be an excellent player but he just needs to find a way to put it all together. There were a number of times where Jordan got the ball right in his spot and hit his defender with a quick and clearly well rehearsed move to get an easy bucket. Despite his size, x still has a solid outside jump shot. As Jordan grows as a player, he will learn to use his athletic abilities to grab even more rebounds and get deflections on the defensive end of the ball.
