Toledo Central Catholic made a run to the state semifinals and Carruthers had an impressive season as a productive forward with impressive interior scoring and rebounding statistics this season. Carruthers was named honorable mention all-Ohio and with his high school head coach Mike Floyd taking a college head coaching job, Carruthers could get interest from his program and more as he makes a decision on where he wants to play next season.

The first half Carruthers played was the best I’ve seen in his career as he was aggressive as a finisher, attacking the offensive glass and had a slam dunk from the dunker spot. I loved seeing him rise up to the challenge against such a talented team and this performance was extremely impressive for a player who is looking to make a big senior season jump in an extremely competitive conference.

Carruthers is one of my favorite players in the Toledo area, and I think one of the most underrated players in Ohio. I really like how physical and strong he is. He is a big forward who is physically imposing and wears you down. He is a solid player in the post and knows when to attack the rim to score. He has a good touch around the rim with both hands. He is a great rebounder and rim protector. Excited for him to showcase his skillset once again.

Carruthers is one of the most impactful for this Central Catholic squad. His size and physicality were a huge difference in both games I have seen him play this year. He is a monster on the boards and a difficult player to keep off them. He did a good job of being patient in the post with the ball. He does a good job of finishing around the rim and jumping towards the rim. He has a good touch around the rim.

Carruthers was a major factor in their big time win on Friday because of his defense. He is a very strong and physical player but a good athlete as well. He can move well and he completely shut down the offense of the opposing team on Tuesday. He then was a monster on the boards and finished strong. I think Carruthers is a massive impact player for this talented Irish squad and he showed this impact on Tuesday night.

Carruthers ability to do the dirty work was vital in Toledo Central Catholic’s win. He was a menace down low continuously rebounding and running the floor. He has good touch within eight feet of the bucket and scored often. His length makes it easy for him to contest shots, Carruthers has no issue being able to switching as a defender.

Carruthers is someone who could make a huge impact for his team this year and he did at the All-Ohio Preview. He played big and physical. He was a monster on the boards. He blocked a ton of shots and showed the ability to be an impactful rim protector. He made strong and quick finishes at the rim when getting the offensive rebounds or dumb-offs. Impressive performance.

Carruthers is everything you want out of a modern-day forward. He has the height, length, and athletic ability, and seems to have gained the weight and strength to bang in the post at the next level. You would love to see him continue to gain strength but this kid makes up for it with his raw athleticism. He can outjump most other bigs and has some quick twitch to him.

A player we scouted at Pitt Jamfest with a very talented Midwest Basketball Club Gold 16 U squad, Carruthers moves up our rankings after a strong start to his spring. A player who will be better later, Carruthers is starting to flash some perimeter ability. A name to know in NW Ohio, Carruthers could be one of the most improved players in the region from last year to next at the high school level.

A forward who came off the bench and played hungry at both ends of the court. Carruthers was attacking rebounds off the glass and used his strong hands to secure rebounds and post entry passes. Scoring off hustle plays and second chance points, Carruthers was simply out-working defenders in the paint. Still developing some perimeter skills like ball handling and shooting, Carruthers being productive due to his length, hustle and rebounding is encouraging for his future development. Also showing me some IQ development, Carruthers made a couple nice passes out of double teams on Saturday. Continuing to play smart basketball and sticking with his role could make Carruthers a valuable piece to a very talented Midwest 16 U Gold roster.
