For some reason, common sense isn’t a big part of most polls. Evansville Christian is the best Class 1A team in the state, but this will likely be the only poll you can find where they are ranked #1. They’ve lost to a good Owensboro (KY) team, lost in double overtime by one point to a top Class 3A team in Evansville Christian and then lost by 7 to 5-2 Class 4A Jeffersonville. Why should they move down? Until they lose to a Class 1A team, or a weaker 2A or 3A team, they should remain at #1. They’ve got a big test coming up on Wednesday against Blackhawk Christian at the North Daviess Tournament.
This 1A poll was really hard to come up with this week because so many teams just keep losing. After the top four teams it is really hard to come up with deserving teams to rank in the Top 10 right now.
Shoutout to Fountain Central for their 5-0 start with a bunch of dominant wins. They have earned a Top 10 spot.

If you watch the games, Brownstown Central is the most impressive Class 2A team in the state. They are dominating opponents and their only loss was a close one against Cincinnati Withrow. Again, this is probably the only poll you’ll actually find them ranked #1 though.
Blackhawk Christian has earned moving up a couple spots after an impressive 3-0 week culminating in a win over Chesterton at the Grace College Champions of Character Classic.
Unlike Class 1A where it is tough to find 10 deserving teams, Class 2A is absolutely loaded. So many good teams. South Spencer takes over at #10 with an undefeated start.

Mishawaka Marian and North Daviess remain undefeated and continue their strangle hold on the top two spots.
Normally teams don’t move as drastically in our polls, but South Bend Washington’s 21-point loss to a sub-.500 John Glenn team took them from #3 to out of the Top 10 entirely. Just a very strange loss.
Welcome in Peru and Lebanon who are each having strong starts to their respective seasons.

We said it last week and it is still true. Any poll that doesn’t still have Cathedral #2 is just kidding themselves. Ben Davis also continues to put together a dominant season and are the clear #1 team at this point.
After #3, it is hard to make sense of what to do. Brownsburg got BLASTED by Ben Davis. They move down to #6 because I think the teams ahead of them are better. Kokomo beat Carmel this weekend it feels like they HAVE to be ranked higher. However, the Greyhounds lost to Noblesville who fell to #9 after losing to Westfield. Tough decisions had to be made. Meanwhile, Zionsville sticks at #8 because we refuse to overreact to losses against Carmel, Ben Davis, and Penn. They also beat Westfield in overtime.
Center Grove probably feels like they deserve to have moved up after remaining undefeated, but I just think the teams ahead are better and didn’t do anything to deserve falling out of the Top 10.
