Circle City Shootout: Top 2019 Performers
The first live period has come to a close and we are ready to look back at some of the top guys we saw this weekend in Indianapolis for the Circle City Shootout. Here are our Top 5 in the class of 2019.
Nathan Bruns – 6’5 | SF | Marion Local (OH) | NW Ohio BBall Club 2019 – Long, lean forward with a ton of skill and some athleticism. Great shooter off the catch and can get hot. Can play inside and out on the defensive end. Really long and uses it well as a shot blocker and rebounder. Good in the open floor but handles and agility limit his creativity. Best in the halfcourt and could potentially be a knockdown shooter.
Andrew Owens – 6’5 | SF | Carmel (IN) | IE Diesel 2019 – Owens is a big, skilled wing forward who has really improved his ball handling allowing him to be more creative and aggressive on the offensive end. He showed more creativity in the middle of the floor, able to find a path for a jumper or a spin-move to finish with a layup. Was good rebounding the ball as well which is great to see after missing time due to an arm injury.
Spencer Piercefield – 6’0 | PG | Center Grove (IN) | IE Metro 2019 – Piercefield is a big shooter on the point and one that has emerged recently. He got a small growth spurt that got him to 6’0 and now his shot has become deadly. He’s got a great handle on the ball right now and while he isn’t going to drive a ton, he’s effective when he wants to. Have to slow him down shooting the ball first. Offense has really boosted his stock.
Tyreese Nibbs – 6’3 | PG | Ben Davis (IN) | Indiana Faith 2019 – Nibbs is a thin framed lead guard but one that has the toughness to really make plays. Great as a slasher to the rim and can avoid contact really well. With that, he scores it fairly well at the rim using his size and some length to do it. Isn’t too long but defensively he will get after it and can create turnovers with his effort.
Justin Hensley – 6’4 | SG | Cathedral (IN) | IE Metro 2019 – Hensley is a lean forward who showed that he can light it up from distance. Has a great release and with his size and length, he is really hard to defend. Was doing most off the catch but will create on the arc to get a shot off. Was also able to put the ball on the floor and drive when he got a good matchup. Could become a really good option as a guy who can play the 2/3 with size and shooting ability.
