<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The St. Paul Johnson Governors took back their crown last year with a 12-0 record in the St. Paul City Conference. And to the surprise of nobody the Governors are the St. Paul City favorite once again!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Conference Commentary</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Top Contenders</strong>: Johnson, Central</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With Christian Jones and Ishmeal David graduated and Dae'John Thomas now at East Ridge, the Governors lost their top three players to graduation. That said, Johnson has three other key players back and they have some young talent as well. Central will have the best player in the league in Allen Lankfard plus a couple other key players back from last year's eight conference win team. Highland Park returns most of their team from last year so they should take a step forward from their .500 mark in the league and be a contender.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Compete with Most</strong>: Como Park, Harding</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Six of the eight players from last year's Como Park rotation have graduated but Mason Aarnes is in position to be a go to scorer for the team. The Cougars should have enough to win around half their games in conference. With their top player in Paul Walker returning along with quality young player Ai'John Doulgas, Harding should be a step better this season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Rebuilding</strong>: Washington</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Washington should be a step better this year with three or four returning solid players. They just need to figure out a way to stop allowing 80 plus points a game and then they can take a step forward. Humboldt is in a tough spot right now. They just got a new head coach in the last month, they were winless in the league last season, they won two games total last year and averaged a 30 point loss each night last season.
