Acevedo brings toughness as one of Prep’s lead guards, capable defending both perimeter positions while not being backed down easily within the post. Standing right around 6’2, Acevedo should have a key season ahead, looking to solidify himself as a primary creator. While already proving to be an efficient secondary playmaker, Acevedo will need to continue showcasing his pick and roll vision. The senior currently sits at 15th in the 2023 class and 5th among combo guards.
Alliou Diallo – 2023
Diallo has proven to be shifty downhill scoring threat, given his ability to quickly change speeds and manipulate defenders with the live dribble. Standing right around 5’11, Diallo has continued to strengthen his reactions with the handle, mitigating how many turnovers he commits. Continuing to leverage the jump shot and floater will be keys, given his ability to create playmaking opportunities within tight spaces. Given how quick he gets downhill, Diallo must be kept honest through help defense, where his vision is consistent hitting corner shooters or baseline cutters. The next steps for Diallo will come from his shooting upside off the catch, as he must be as effective off-ball as he has proven on the ball. The incoming senior currently sits at 25th within the 2023 class and 6th among point guards.
Mekhi Jourdan Mekhi Jourdan 6'2" Belleview Christian Preparatory School | 2023 CO – 2023
Standing right around 6’1, the combo guard has shown capabilities as a shooter off the catch and full court playmaker. The incoming senior will have a key season ahead, looking to build on his full court speed and subsequent finishing touch around the rim. One area Jourdan was especially potent came from coast-to-coast drives off of defensive rebounds, proving to put significant pressure on the rim. Continuing to prioritize his movement as an off-ball cutter will be necessary to unlock his full potential. Given his athleticism and length, Jourdan should be dependable as an on-ball defender versus quicker guards.
Mataeo Jourdan – 2023
The shooting guard has shown promise as a sparkplug playmaker, proving to crash the offensive glass and stay competitive as a shooter off the catch. At roughly 5’11, Jourdan brings immediate energy while maximizinig his impact off the ball. Notably as a corner or wing shooter off the catch, Jourdan can light up the floor out beyond the high school line. Coming off defensive rebounds, the senior guard stays consistent getting the ball up ahead through outlet passes. Continuing to maximize his defensive upside as an on-ball defender will be crucial.
JJ Williams JJ Williams 6'5" | SF Highlands Ranch | 2023 State CO – 2023
Williams is a potent shooter off the catch while providing size to switch onto wing scorers. At roughly 6’5, the shooting guard is capable coming off flare screens and curls into jumpers off the catch. Continuing to maximize his skillset within one or two dribbles will be key, as he plays an off-guard role currently. I look forward to tracking his consistency as a rebounder and overall usage of his positional strength. Williams currently lands at 22nd within the 2023 class and 2nd among shooting guards.
