Accelerated Prep Preview: Part 1

Of recently, the opportunity opened up to check out the newly formed Accelerated Prep at Denver Redline East. Led by Head Coach Mike Haynes, the group boasts multiple nationally ranked prospects. Here are some observations from their practice this week. The incoming senior was an elite athlete both vertically and laterally, proving to to be an excellent shot blocker. One area he showed promise came from his jumper, where he proved to be lights out just inside the NCAA arc. When given a bit more space, Fall was capable knocking down threes off the catch. There is no doubt the shot has progressed since the spring, look for Fall to makes strides as a shooter off the catch this season. Fall currently has a top 7 listed, including Texas, Arkansas, Kansas State, Auburn, Colorado, Seton Hall, and Rutgers. Standing at 6'8 without shoes, Diop will immediately set the tone through his defensive tenacity. Haynes reverberated the same scouting reports from past events about Diop, he can guard any position on the floor, 1-5. While his defensive upside is a major key for the forward, Diop's offensive IQ cannot go overlooked. He has proven to grow as a primary ballhandler, breaking down opposing wings or forwards off the dribble. Should help come, he has the vision and height to see above the defense for passing lanes, where he threw a few no look dimes. Diop is a jack of all trades on offense, a testament to his adaptability at the forward spot. Him and Fall are both headed to Seton Hall for a visit, although Diop has another seven teams apart of finalists, including Arkansas, Colorado, The Ohio State, Arizona State, Kansas State, Brigham Young, and Auburn. The incoming junior has some incredible touch on layups, proving to manipulate the smallest angles for finishes. In combination with the touch, Lewis has steadily improved his overall athleticism over the past twelve months, allowing him a bit more time mid-air. Lewis proved to be a knockdown shooter, either off the catch or bounce. While this was a free-flowing set of runs, Lewis broke down opponents one on one for pullup jumpers with high efficiency. Lewis has currently received offers from Montana, Sacramento State, San Francisco, and San Jose State.   Darrion Sutton - 2024   <figure class="wp-block-image alignleft size-large is-resized"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/05/Darrion-Sutton-PHC.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/05/Darrion-Sutton-PHC-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1468459" width="251" height="188"/></a></figure>   Sutton brings an intriguing blend of pick and roll playmaking, alongside potential as a versatile defender. Standing 6'8 without shoes, the point forward has a flashy playstyle getting downhill. Sutton's combination of ballhandling skills and mobility make him a tough cover. The wing utilized quick crossovers going either direction to free up driving lanes, where seemingly every other possession resulted in a pass through a tight pocket. Continuing to develop the jump shot consistency beyond the arc will only add to his versatility as a perimeter scoring threat. Sutton currently has offers from Rutgers, St. John's, DePaul, Mississippi State, and others.
