About Ismail
Expert Analysis
Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
Guyo has some legitimately dynamic scoring potential that can and has shown up in bursts for Seattle Select this month. Has great separation skills on the perimeter and only needs a glimpse of the rim to get going burying shots from outside. He’s got the length at the guard spot to really be a factor pushing the ball up the court and attacking downhill right away, and when he is balancing his attack with threes and rim takes he’s a very tough one-on-one matchup. He showed his explosive scoring ability against Cali Stars at the beginning of the month, sinking several threes and then playing off of that with aggressive paint takes. That dynamic scoring ability can start to open things up for his playmaking too as the defense starts to send extra guys to help in his area.

Missed a good chunk of the season but came back and made an immediate impact. 3-point shooting is a big strength of his but can also attack both ways with strength and length. At 6-foot-4, has the ability to see over the defense, shoot over defenders, finish with some acrobatics and touch in the paint, and smother smaller guards on the defensive end.

Ismail is a lengthy long guard who creates for himself very efficiently. He reads defenses quickly, attacking the weak spots and finding his open teammates often. He uses his length well when finishing around the rim, adjusting in mid-air for the finish.

Ismail has been improving on the court in a big way since the high school season ended. He’s been shooting the ball at a high clip, recently sinking 51% during the UA Rise session 1. He knows how to score the ball from all 3 levels, finishing athletically around the rim and easily hitting shots. On the football field, he’s a tall QB who hits his receivers perfectly in stride and evades lineman in the backfield smoothly. He’s a top multi-sport athletes in the entire state.

Ismail is insanely smooth and natural with the ball in his hands. He knows his strengths on the court and knows how to adjust to what the defense gives him due to his high IQ. Guyo has a fantastic shot, easily draining threes and mid-range shots off the catch or straight off the dribble. He is going to cause havoc next year for Nathan Hale.

The big Nathan Hale point guard looks even better than last year when he was a second-team all-league selection. Somehow, he looks a little longer, still has that same great decision-making, but has improved as a scorer both inside and out. He was deadly from long-range in their opener against Roosevelt. It seemed every three he hoisted from behind the arc splashed through the net. He was hitting off the catch, off the dribble, splash after splash. Guyo also had a couple of nice takes scoring while moving across the paint with tough runners.
