Prep Hoops Missouri Mr. Basketball (Outstanding Senior): Jared Ridder
The Prep Hoops Missouri Mr. Basketball Award goes to the outstanding senior performer in the state of Missouri.
This year’s recipient of that award is Jared Ridder of Springfield Kickapoo. The 6’7″ senior forward concluded his career as one of the top players in the history of Springfield, Mo. He led the Chiefs to two consecutive Final Four berths in the Class 5 state tournament. Kickapoo finished second in the state tournament in 2016 and third this season.
As a senior, Ridder averaged 24 points and seven rebounds a game while shooting 49 percent from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range. He will leave Kickapoo as the school’s all-time leading scorer. In the past three years, the Chiefs compiled a record of 78-13, including the two Final Four appearances with Ridder as a starter.
Ridder will be playing his collegiate basketball at Xavier, which recently advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
