A few weeks ago we updated the class of 2024 rankings in VA, and due to all of the content from the live periods we haven’t had a chance to break down the new rankings.

We’ll take a look at positional rankings, ranking the guards, wings and bigs.

Here’s a look at part one of the wings rankings, ranking 25-16 of the shooting guards and small forwards in the class of 2024.

25) Shaihde Battle | 6’3” SF | Lake Taylor (#72 Overall)

Battle is a player who could move up this list moving forward as we’ve only seen him a couple of times but he has too much talent to leave off the list completely. He’s a strong and athletic wing who brings it on both ends of the floor, he can knock down shots and has hit some big time shots in front of us and he’s a good rebounder and plays with a good motor too.

24) [player_tooltip player_id="1259635" first="Kyan" last="Bowman"] | 6’4” SF | St. Stephen’s St. Agnes (#67 Overall)

Bowman is coming off of an impressive DMV Live Session 2 and a good first July live period with DBC, and the 6’4” small forward may be up this list if he continues to play that way. He has good size and a great frame, he’s versatile on the offensive end with his ability to create shots on the ball or make shots when he’s off the ball and he’s starting to play with more passion and purpose when we watch him.

23) [player_tooltip player_id="1259670" first="CJ" last="Parker"] | 6’6” SF | Maury (#62 Overall)

When it comes to players with huge potential, there may not be a single guy on this list and few in the total rankings that have more potential than Parker, and if/when it clicks he’ll rocket up this list. He’s a talented guy with good size and versatility at his size, he can play and guard multiple positions, he can do a little bit of everything offensively and it’s just a matter of time before the production picks up too.

22) [player_tooltip player_id="1259629" first="Drew" last="Hatter"] | 6’2” SG | Eastern Mennonite (#60 Overall)

The Hatter’s are becoming EMHS royalty as Drew is the third brother who all have helped turn that program around, and the one thing he has that the others didn’t is good size at 6’2”. He’s a blue collar type of player who does all the little things to make his team better, he can really shoot it from deep and is consistent from beyond the arc and he is a reliable secondary ball handler too.

21) [player_tooltip player_id="1489096" first="Ellis" last="Wright"] | 6’3” SF | Western Branch (#57 Overall)

Wright is a new name in these rankings that made a name for himself on a talented but young Western Branch team, and he has some tools that are very intriguing for coaches moving forward. He stands about 6’3” but he has very long arms which he uses to get deflections and rebounds, he can really shoot it from deep and gets hot quickly and he still has a lot of potential moving forward.

20) [player_tooltip player_id="1259626" first="David" last="Rochester"] | 6’5” SG | Bishop Ireton (#53 Overall)

Rochester is one of the more talented guys on the offensive end on this list, as he has good size for his position and an all-around game to go with it. He’s a strong kid who moves well on cuts and crashes the glass on both ends, he can make shots from deep and finish around the rim and he has the ability to put it on the deck in limited dribbles to get to the pull-up.

19) [player_tooltip player_id="1259996" first="Anthony" last="Harris"] | 6’3” SF | Princess Anne (#52 Overall)

Harris is part of a PA team that is going to be very talented next year and will be able to compete with anyone in the Beach District, and he brings that needed toughness every team needs. He is a two way guy who brings it on both ends of the floor, he can knock down shots and be a secondary ball handler and he makes all the hustle plays and does the little stuff for his team.

18) [player_tooltip player_id="1232158" first="Doyle" last="Brown"] | 6’1” SG | Flint Hill (#40 Overall)

Brown lit up the Nova public schools last year at Centreville before deciding to transfer and reclassify at Flint Hill where he joins the 2024 class. Brown is a talented shooter who can really drill it from deep and has deep range, he can put it on the deck and drive in straight lines to finish around the rim and he is a good on ball defender as well.

17) [player_tooltip player_id="1489079" first="Miles" last="Franklin"] | 6’4” SF | James Madison (#37 Overall)

Franklin jumps on the 2024 list at 37 as he’s one of the most athletic players you’ll come across in the Nova public schools and he is just starting to scratch the surface with how good he can be moving forward. In transition he’s showtime as he plays above the rim and runs the floor hard, he can come off of curls and get downhill to use his body and athleticism to finish and he is improving as a catch-and-shoot guy when he’s left open from deep.

16) [player_tooltip player_id="1260002" first="Kameron" last="Tinsley"] | 6’5” SF | Cave Spring (#34 Overall)

Tinsley is an under the radar guy in the Roanoke area who played a vital role for Cave Spring in their state championship run and should have an even bigger role next year and they’ll have a good chance to repeat as well. He has good size on the wing and brings it on both ends of the floor, he’s a lefty that makes him hard to guard, he’s an above average athlete and he can flat out shoot it from deep off the catch.
