After the conclusion of its weekend team camp. Lake Superior St hosted its annual two day elite camp beginning Monday afternoon. Following are seven statewide standouts from the deep and talented field.

[player_tooltip player_id="987644" first="Tyran" last="Thomas"] 6-3 2023 Grand Rapids Northview Due to Northview’s Breslin Center run. Might have been the highest profile of any player in the camp. Backed it up with his play. Was an electric athlete and penetrator all day. Showed a euro step that virtually unstoppable in the both the half court and transition. Showed better ball handling than what I am used to seeing from him. Important as he should shift to more of a perimeter role in his senior season. Has a long and lanky frame with excellent elevation. Accordingly finishes at and above the rim with ease. The Northview program loses quite a bit. But they should reload well and Thomas could be a big part of that.

[player_tooltip player_id="1137837" first="Evan" last="Haroldson"] 6-3 2023 Dexter (pictured) All around wing carried over his strong spring play on the Prep Hoops Circuit to the Upper Peninsula. He has no problem scoring. However I have always been impressed with his passing ability. Showed that off in a big way in the continuous 3-2 portion of camp. In this constant transition simulation. Haroldson advanced the ball quickly with sound decision making. The behind the back and no looks were nice and caught attention. But it is not all flash. Makes the right pass and scores when he needs to. There is a lot of good basketball in the Ann Arbor area (see below) I think this player is flying a little under the radar right now. Could be in line for a big senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1411857" first="Omar" last="Suleiman"] 6-6 2023 Canton First time seeing this player in action and came away impressed. Has good size and the ability to play inside and out. Is a long strider who covers a lot of space. Has a smooth and easy release on his perimeter shot. However his play at rim and ability to drive are what really stood out to me. Only needs a dribble or two to get to the basket due to his aforementioned length. Easily finishes well above the rim. Had the play of the day during the 5-on-5 scrimmages. A baseline drive finished with a huge one handed dunk. Always impressed by non transition dunks. But the way he created space in tight quarters on the baseline was equally impressive. With Jake Vickers moving onto Ferris St. Should become the focal point of the Chiefs attack in the upcoming year. Played well enough to earn an offer from the Lakers at the conclusion of the camp.

[player_tooltip player_id="1431590" first="Caden" last="Pokorzynski"] 6-6 2023 and [player_tooltip player_id="986581" first="Charlie" last="Deutsch"] 6-4 2023 Rockford I only attended on Monday. That day did not feature a combine measurement portion. So I’m going to go across conference and steal some numbers from the Ferris St elite camp to start this scout. Pokorzynski is a legitimate 6-6 with a 6-8 wingspan. This is an impressive athlete. It’s not all on paper though. When the ball tips uses these traits well and is everywhere on the court. It goes without saying that he is a factor at the rim. Protects it with his wingspan and is fearless driver. Skinny but seeks out contact and absorbs it well. Will form an outstanding forward duo with [player_tooltip player_id="986581" first="Charlie" last="Deutsch"]. Deutsch and Pokorzynski completed their GLIAC elite camp tour. Deutsch does not have the athletic upside of his teammate. But shoots it very well and has an excellent all around floor game. Deutsch is a fearless driver and clever finisher. Uses his frame to shield off defenders. Avoids blocks despite not having elite elevation. I would imagine he is going to live at the free throw line in his senior season. Deutsch also has an excellent academic profile. Coaches should have both of these players on their recruiting boards

[player_tooltip player_id="1223485" first="Jake" last="Stephens"] 6-2 2024 Chelsea If you have been following me at all this spring you know I am really high on this young man’s game. Is not going to blow you away with any one particular skill. But the intangibles are simply off the chart. Seemingly always makes the right play and is never out of position. I was impressed with his competitiveness in the 5-on-5 scrimmages. Games were only 14 minutes long and his team went down by double digits early. Methodically willed his team back into the contest and had a chance to win it at the end. Took on the challenge of guarding of the other teams best player. Has been outstanding on the grassroots scene with DV45. Like [player_tooltip player_id="1111925" first="Anthony" last="Ribel"] and Suleiman picked up an offer from the host school at the conclusion of the camp.

Honorable Mention

[player_tooltip player_id="986890" first="Cameron" last="Reed"] 6-0 2023 Ferndale Placing him here simply because he wasn’t at the camp very long. However in the short time he was there. Showed the skill set that makes him one of the more intriguing point guards in the deep 2023 class. In a setting like this the athleticism is eye opening. Simply moved at a different pace. Smooth and under control. But that changes at the rim. Explodes with easy elevation above the rim despite not being the tallest prospect.
