The Terriers were a top team in the state last season and even with some major losses to graduation they showed they will be a major contender for a state title once again. We will have a report on them after we see them compete at the Chsaa team camp. But here are some other players who we saw at Hofstra.
Preston Edmead Preston Edmead 5'9" | PG Deer Park | 2024 #226 Nation NY 5”8. 2024 Deer Park
My way to early Suffolk Counyy player of the year next season. He has shown since the eighth grade a tremendous skillset and court awareness. His ability to see plays develop is outstanding. Quick strong handle gets him into the lane. Possesses unlimited range and the ability to get his own shot off.
Dylan Mingo 6”1. 2026. Farmingdale
Dylan is going into ninth grade. He will be a major contender for Long Island player of the year in each of the next 4 years. Extremely talented smooth player. Nothing seems to phase him with the ball in his hands. He has long arms and legs uses them to get to the rim . Has good range.
Mike Gitz Mike Gitz 6'1" | SG Commack | 2023 State NY . 6”2. 2023 Commack
Constant motion. But he moves with a purpose. Finding the open areas. Outstanding shooter. Very solid all around player.
James Notias 6”0. 2024. Manhasset
James got some good minuites last season for the class A state champs. So at this team camp I was anxious to see him as a main guy. He delivered. A pg who can score the ball, very smooth with the ball in his hands. Can score at all three levels. Weaves inside or can stop and pop it off the bounce.
Liam Buckley 6”4. 2023. Manhasset
Non stop workhorse. Gets loose balls. Rebounds well in traffic. Really good frame. Scores inside but can also step out and shoot it. Strong bodied player . Plays bigger then his size.
Brendan Carr Brendan Carr 6'2" | SG Northport | 2023 State NY 6”1. 2023 Northport
Brendan just got better every time we saw him. I think he was just getting more comfortable after transferring in to Northport from Ossining. One think that he didn’t have to get comfortable with was his shot. A smooth out of the hand repeatable motion jump shot. Defenders worry about him nailing threes so that opens up the drive for him. A quick first step and a good handle gets him inside.
Jaylen Brown Jaylen Brown 6'0" | SG Baldwin | 2023 State NY . 6”0 2023. Baldwin
Jaylen came off the bench last season with the idea to drain some threes. Well at this event he showed that stroke. But we were very impressed with how he got to the rim or just flat out scored inside. With muscle and finesse he was able to find different ways to score the call. A tremendous showing by this player on both ends of the floor.
