There was plenty of games from the High School division across three different locations: Davalos Center East, Davalos Center West and The Pit. This Camp will be played all weekend starting with Pool Play than the Single Elimination Tournament that will start soon after. This article will discuss some of the top performers from Friday Night’s games.
Jonathon Lukesh Jonathon Lukesh 5'10" | SG Albuquerque | 2024 State NM from Rio Grande High School played well Friday evening in his game vs ABC Post Grad. Despite the loss, Jonathon had a solid evening on the floor. ABC Post Grad played solid defense on Jonathon, but he was still able to create his own off the dribble and attack the rim. Jonathon had several mid range pull-up jumpers and made it to the free throw line in the game.
Marcus Wilson Marcus Wilson 6'2" | PG Bella Vista Prep | 2024 NM was the best player on the floor during his game vs West Mesa Friday evening. He led ABC Spotlight to a blowout win vs West Mesa. Marcus was aggressive with the basketball early and helped ABC get off to a great start. He was dangerous in the passing lanes for steals and had several scores on the fast break which led to multiple dunks in transition. Marcus ran the offense to perfection with his high basketball IQ.
Judah Casaus Judah Casaus 6'0" | SG Del Norte | 2023 State NM had his fingerprints all over the game vs West Mesa this past Friday evening. He put his two-way playing ability on full display in this game and dominated in various areas to help ABC Spotlight blowout West Mesa. Judah was everywhere on the floor, forcing turnovers, contesting shots, play-making and looking for his own shots. Judah was the teams second leading scorer in the game with over 20 points. He scored every basket differently, he scored through transition, scored on mid-range pull-ups, made difficult contested drives at the rim and made some long-range shots. Judah was in control from start to finish with his all-around play.
Gideon Harris Gideon Harris 6'2" | SF ABC Prep | 2023 State NM played a solid game for ABC Spotlight Friday evening. He played some of the best defense in the game by giving his opponents no space or room when they had the ball. Gideon played the passing lanes great defensively and had some nice finishes at the basket. He did a good job when it was his turn running the offense and made the right decisions with his play-making.
Gabe Trujillo played with a lot of pride and heart Friday evening. Despite a big loss to ABC Spotlight, Gabe kept battling until the very end. He didn’t stop attacking the great ABC Spotlight defense and found his way to the rim for a couple “And One” opportunities. He did everything he could to get his team in rhythm and back into the game. Even though it was a lopsided game in the end, Gabe held his own vs a loaded ABC Spotlight team.
