Smith is the classic athletic edge rusher that thrives on the court thanks to often being stronger and quicker than most of the other post players in the state. Now committed to Tulsa in football, Smith brings an extra dimension of physicality and post production for last year’s Class 6A semifinalist Yellowjackets.  The fiery big man can even step out and hit the occasional three for Choctaw.

Will Smith Will Smith 6'4" | PF Choctaw | 2024 State OK is a stretch big that has high energy and a great feel for the game, ultimately being very fluid and poised when he plays. Smith was a strong threat on the interior for the Choctaw program on both sides of the flor this past season. Will dominates on the boards and has active hands in the passing lane causing him to be a catalyst to initiate the break at will. Will is just as comfortable behind the arc as he is in the paint, although being a little undersized for his position compared to most forwards across the state; Smith makes up fr that with skill and quickness on the offensive end and strength and tenacity on the defensive.

Committed to OSU for football, Smith has been one of the Yellowjackets’ most productive players all season long. Last night was no different as he scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Not only a physical force around the rim, he’s can play vertically too with the way he blocks shots.  Another impressive note, he was the only Yellowjacket not to miss any free throws. He went 5-5 on the night.

Choctaw certainly didn’t expect to lose to Edmond Santa Fe on Thursday but as we mentioned earlier, that 13-0 hole that the Yellowjackets got into in the first quarter was too much to overcome. But in the fourth quarter, they would put together a comeback that would actually see them get within one possession late in the game. And leading the Choctaw comeback in the fourth quarter was junior Will Smith Will Smith 6'4" | PF Choctaw | 2024 State OK . Known more for his abilities on the football field, Smith is an outstanding athlete but it was his jumper that was working on Thursday. He knocked down a pair of three-pointers and finished with ten points as Choctaw’s comeback bid came up just short.

Choctaw junior Will Smith Will Smith 6'4" | PF Choctaw | 2024 State OK is quickly becoming one of the top dual-sport athletes in the state. Smith enjoyed a breakout junior season on the gridiron and is adding to his game on the basketball court. Every time he steps on the court, Smith is usually one of the best athletes on the floor. He can absolutely jump out of the gym and while that phrase gets used a lot, it fits Smith as he probably has one of the highest vertical leaps in the state. While his future might be on the gridiron as he’s started earning D1 offers for football, his production on the basketball floor can’t be overlooked. As an undersized big man, Smith gives Choctaw athleticism and a very high motor on both ends of the floor.
