Harrison Bailey-Howard (St. Louis Bulls): A 6’0″ guard from McCluer North who was excellent at both ends of the court. He used a quick first step to beat defenders off the dribble, especially on the baseline. He could finish well in the lane while also hitting the pull up jumper from the free throw line. He was very good at the top of his team’s full court pressure defense with his ability to get deflections and steals. He had good instincts on the defensive end.
Tashawn Henton (Team Ramey): A 5’10″ point guard from DeSmet who had a quick first step to get into the lane and score with a lot of smooth finishes. When he wasn’t scoring on layups and floaters in the lane, he was dropping off some nice dimes to open teammates for easy buckets.
Carl Whitehead (Team Ramey): A 6’0″ point guard from Webster Groves is a smooth operator who got buckets on some impressive takes to the basket. He has a nice burst to get by defenders plus he makes good use of the jab step and ball fakes to set up his moves to the basket.
Jack Edgerton (Arsenal Hoops-Lacefield): A 6’1″ guard from Ladue who had an excellent weekend offensively. He was constantly moving on offensive and making himself hard to guard while getting himself open. He set solid screens to get himself open for the 3-pointer off the flare or he could cut hard to get a layup. He also attacked the basket well and scored on some nice takes to the basket.
DJ McDonald (Hardwood Elite): A 5’9″ point guard from Oakville who played with both the 15U and 16U teams throughout the weekend. I liked his quickness and end to end speed in the open court. He has an effective runner in the lane. He is also a solid defender who moves his feet well and can keep ball handlers in front of him.
Jaylen Vance (St. Louis Stars): A 5’7″ point guard from Hazelwood East who distributes the ball well and he has the ability to score. I like how he advances the ball well with the pass as he looks ahead for teammates who are running. He uses his quickness to get into the lane and score and he can break off a defender with an escape move for a perimeter jumper.
Jacob Robinson (COMO-TNT): A 5’10 point guard from Chaminade who has a nice blend of strength and quickness. He kept the pace moving fast whenever he had the ball. He got buckets on physical drives to the basket while also knocking down 3-pointers.
Pierce Behrndt (St Louis Bulls): A 6’3″ forward from Holt who had a blue-collar style of play that was very effective. His motor worked overtime as he attacked the boards and battled for post position inside. He was constantly making hustle plays to keep possessions alive for his team.
DJ Johnson (Team Ramey): A long and slender 6’4″ forward from John Burroughs who has good mobility and a versatile skill set. He is comfortable handling the ball and he’s capable of making perimeter shots and scoring on the drive. He projects to be a wing player with good height and he will be quite a player as he gains more strength in the future.
