The summer circuit is a busy time for prospects across all ability levels. Players are looking to challenge and prove themselves against elite competition. They’re also working out in the gym and participating in training sessions.

Who will benefit? South Florida has a ton of them.

Let’s take a look...

[player_tooltip player_id="1450207" first="Gustavo" last="Guimaraes"] - Westminster Academy (PH: 20)

[player_tooltip player_id="1450207" first="Gustavo" last="Guimaraes"] already has the height to be a formidable post player at the high school level. The listed and likely taller 6-foot-8 prospect has been working on his footwork and dribbling during workouts. Guimaraes’ coordination to handle the ball will only improve his offensive game. He is becoming more nimble which should help his face up and back to the basket production. This should also become apparent in the defensive department.

[player_tooltip player_id="1164250" first="Derrick" last="Edouard"] - North Miami (PH: 82)

I think [player_tooltip player_id="1164250" first="Derrick" last="Edouard"] has played above his perceived level this past season. The 6-foot-3 guard is an efficient scorer from deep while being able to attack the basket. His long arms and quickness are also valuable along the perimeter on defense. Specifically, Edouard can alter passing lanes and block shots off his length. Edouard averaged 13.6 points per game while hitting 62 3-pointers for the Pioneers. He is the type of prospect that could carry a team in spurts with his shooting ability.

[player_tooltip player_id="1301716" first="Marcus" last="Perrier"] - Cardinal Gibbons (PH: Watch list)

I think you’ll see [player_tooltip player_id="1301716" first="Marcus" last="Perrier"] take the next step as a sophomore. The 6-foot-3 forward can score in the open floor or around the rim. Perrier moves well and will get stronger in due time. He averaged 6.2 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 45 percent from the floor this past season. The Chiefs are a team I like going into next season.

Blake Wilson - Dwyer

I think Blake Wilson has a lot of talent when you factor in his height (6’5) and shooting ability. The wing prospect averaged 12.3 points per game while hitting 48 3-pointers during the high school season. Furthermore, Wilson played well against top competition. He dropped 29 points against North Miami (22-5) and 21 points against Wellington (22-7). Wilson also combined for 27 points and 19 rebounds in two of three appearances against 6A state champion Martin County.

Landen Harwood - Lake Worth Christian

Landen Harwood had a nice freshman season for Lake Worth Christian. The 5-foot-6 guard averaged 13.5 points and 3.2 rebounds per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor. In addition, Harwood went 36-of-118 (36 percent) from deep and shot 83-of-105 (79 percent) from the free-throw line. He also recorded 58 steals on defense. The Defenders went 19-8 overall with him as a key component. Look for Harwood to grow as he builds on his freshman momentum.

For any South Florida Prep Hoops news or information...please contact Michael Costeines @Steins_23 on Instagram or follow him on Twitter @Mungertown_Mike23
