Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
A powerful guard who can bully through defenders to the rim and showed that determination and ability to win in traffic in their win over Sumner last week. Has some shiftiness when working downhill but he really succeeds with quick initial moves and bursts to get the angle on his man and then use strength to get all the way to the cup. Had a big defensive effort in the game too, working hard along the perimeter and getting his hands up and ready to tip passes, leading to a few early steals that helped Kentwood build a big early lead.

Tita was a key component of Kentwood’s run to the championship game, putting up 19 points in their opening game and 15 in their semi-final matchup. He was a tough downhill attacker who continues to show excellent ability to freeze his defender and then blow by. He also mixed in some quick spin moves to get to his left, and some tough rebounding. Tita also had the game-winning shot in their semi-final game, sinking a tough paint shot at the buzzer.

Kentwood made a pretty impressive run last year and Tita was a big part of that. He’s a super athletic guard who can get downhill with the best of them, setting up his drives with quick, strong moves on the perimeter and sprinkling in shots from outside and the midrange. Kentwood will probably be one of the stronger teams coming out of the 4A this year and that sort of individual and team success could propel Tita into the 4A POY conversation.

The Kentwood guard is a physical player who thrived around the paint on Saturday. He got called for a couple of travels early on but it didn’t take long for him to find his rhythm after that, using a debilitating in-and-out dribble to the right. He went to it time after time and the defenders were pretty much helpless against it. While he likes to get to the hoop where he can use his athleticism and strength, he also showed some good touch from the mid-range with a couple turnaround jumpers and pullups. He also just picked up an offer from Dallas Baptist University.

The power and aggression that Tita plays with is what has me so high on him coming into this season. There are still some nuances to iron out in his game but the pressure he can put on defenses with his ability to get to the rim in the half court, and out run and jump kids in transition should help get defenders leaning back a little and create some more space on the perimeter for him to mix in jumpers. Kentwood will be a fun team to watch and Tita will be one of the guys at the center of it.
